Hickory Creek Kennels

Having no family in the area, we have no other option but to board our dog. We have boarded her for a day for a week for several weeks to several months. Bob treats our girl like one of his own. I have an almost 12 year old, 75 pound Standard Poodle/Black Lab mix. She doesn't fuss when she has to go see Bob. She goes willingly and settles right in. She has been doing this on and off since 2003. (We moved away from the area for 3 years.) Bob is very accommodating. He realizes his spots full up quickly on the busy weekends and holidays and will alert you when he is nearing capacity. He will hold a spot for you but does enforce his cancellation policies, as he should! We feel very fortunate to have such a loving kennel so close to home. He treats our family pet with love and kindess and for that we are grateful. more

Over the past 2 years I have had several unexpected emergencies including a death in the family and several hospital stays. I have 3 border collies and I would not trust them with anyone but Hickory Creek. They were there for 30 days during my recent surgery recovery and while I missed them terribly, I did not worry one minute about their care. more

I'm updating my earlier review now that we have 2 more dachshunds (just turned 1 y.o.). Bob puts the puppies in one kennel and our ""old guy"" in his own kennel. Putting the puppies together has worked out ok (Bob has kept an eye on them to make sure they get along), and it's saved us money. Pros: heated, clean, accommodating more

Hickory Creek is a great place to go for any kenneling need. I have been a frequent customer there for the past five years and I have never been dissappointed! My parents also have been a customer here for years. Bob is a very patient man who will give your dog the care it needs while you're away--no questions asked. We've always received a very friendly service from this family run kennel. They're very welcoming and caring to my pug who to say the least may be a little needy at times. Regardless, anytime we head over there she always seems to be excited dropping off or picking up which to me shows she had obviously been well cared for. Would readily recommend to anyone. Found our about this kennel by listening to talk at my vet. Took my 13 yr old dog who had been quite sick (had no other option) and she came back whole and healthy. Bob has bent over backwards to accomodate me - even stayed open when I was late because of a snowstorm. Would not want to ever have to go anywhere else! Pros: woudln't go anywhere else more

I have been using Hickory Creek for the past couple of years and the staff there is professional in all areas. The kennel is very clean and well maintained. All staff members, both young and old have bent over backwards to help me with the crazy travel schedule I have. When the owner is not directly involved his staff has met all my needs and pays close attention to my dogs feedings and med schedule. I have an 11 year old 135 lb. We've been using Hickory Creek for over 3 years. Bob, the owner, treats his ""guests"" like members of the family. He has even called other customers and asked if he could put their two dogs into one pen for a night to accommodate us when fully booked. He even contacts us in advance to see if we are going to travel when he knows he is going to be full. Pros: heated kennels, walks available, reasonable prices Cons: can't think of any more

Myself and my parents have been using this kennel for years to board our 4 dogs. Never have we had a problem with any care instructions (my parents have wheaten terriers and can be a little more high maintenance), and our dogs have been taken care of perfectly. The owner (and his post-college age daugther) are very knowledable, friendly and really get to know the dogs. I would reccomend this to anyone and will continue to use this kennel for my dogs ""home away from home."" Pros: Inexpensive, very friendly more

We boarded our dogs there last week and had given strict instructions about our dogs medication. When we picked the dogs up, they stank, and even worse, they had not been given their medication, inspsite of the fact that we had doled out the pills by day in baggies. They had stuck the baggies in the fridge and forgotten about them. The owner leaves his young daughter in charge of the kennels during the weekend and it is not professionally managed. If you love your animals, do not use this kennel. Cons: DO NOT LOOK AFTER THE DOGS more
