Editorial review from Citysearch 2/15/2014

Went to Hibernian for their Tuesday $5 Burger deal and I was very impressed. The burger was good size, loaded with toppings, juicy and delicious! I was also impressed with the mixed drink, tasted good and not skimpy on the liquor. Best whiskey sour I've had I years. Highly recommend giving this place a try! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 8/24/2012

Awful, just awful. Poor atmosphere, creepy feel. Manager has no idea what he is doing and has an undeserved sense of pride. That's all I can really say, save your money and get double the drinks for half the price somewhere, anywhere else!! more

Used to be Good but NOT anymore.... 4/23/2012

This place USED to be awesome!! But not anymore :( I was so utterly disappointed with the changes to the menu (third time in the last 6 months) and food items that I will most likely not be back!! You got rid of raspberry bread pudding my favorite and usually determining factor for even coming to your restaurant in the first place, you also changed the shepherds pie another classic Irish meal so now its about on par with frozen microwave meals. Seriously why are you compromising soo much quality?! Also ordered nachos which now you are using the same meat as in the shepherds pie?? There's just something wrong with that picture...there should never be peas and carrots in nachos!! Completely and totally disappointing especially since it was for my Birthday! I will not be back unless I see some serious changes to this place, which sucks because it used to be one of my favorites. In an attempt to cut on their expenses (just a guess) they completely killed themselves. Bout the only good thing I can say after my last experience is that there bar is decent. But hardly a worthy restaurant anymore...can't help but wonder if they are under new management or something?! more

Best kept secret in Cary!!! 4/20/2012

I heard about the Hibernian downtown when I first moved here a couple years back. One of my friends told me there's a local Hibernian in Cary and I had to go check it out. Its hidden in plane sight with big gold letters spelling Hibernian on the front of it and I almost missed it. When I got in there it was like I left Cary and walked into Narnia. Old carved wooden bar with stained glass and every wall covered in old pictures and craft beer signs. I was home. As I walked in and found a seat at the bar I was greeted by a nice young man tending the old bar. It seemed to me after a few moments that him and the other bartender knew almost everyone by name and I was amazed by how they all interacted. There was an old man sitting at the end of the bar with his friends all talking and within half an hour I found myself immersed in great conversation with them. When I didn't know what I wanted to drink, the bartender simply asked me my usual drink being beer or liquor. I replied simply beer and he came back with light or dark and I said usually dark but i'm open for options. Immediately he put out three taste tests for me and I landed my self with what he said was the #2 porter in the nation. The cold porter and good atmosphere made me feel warm and welcome. When my stomach started growling I asked for a menu and was placed with supposedly ""the new menu"" since last week and again the tender asked me my food range with snacks, sandwiches or burgers. I said I was up for anything and he told me its a no fail mission going with the Reuben. Apparently the corn beef is cured in house and everything is from fresh local producers!!! I was sold and man O man was it tasty!!! This was a wonderful first experience and I plan on going back to my little spot in the best kept secret in Cary!! more

Was n last week , and had the pub burger ! Wow , ground in hse , it was amazing ! I guess they are doing a new menu seemed to be a lot of new faces working there , Great service enjoyed it . Hostess was a little blah , and left us waiting a bit , But other than that it was great . more

Poorest service I have ever encountered--- twice 2/27/2012

We went to their Sunday brunch. The buffet was mediocre at bet-- the food was Bly okay, it was usually cold, the took too long to bring out more when thy ran out, and they were often out of clean plates. The pub was by no means full or busy, so this seemed odd. Our server was M.I.A. And when we finally tracked her down to ask for the bill, it took her 20 minutes to get it back to us and another 15 to get us a credit card receipt. The second attempt went almost exactly the same way, also for a Sunday brunch. The only difference was our server was different...but the service was the same. Crappiest service ever. If the food was awesome, it MIGHT be worth putting up with it, but it wasn't great. I will never go back. more

Mediocre 5/7/2011

I'm not a beer drinker so I can only talk to the food, service and atmosphere. Food: Only okay, and they brought the appetizers, salads and main entree all at the same time with no apologies. Guess that speaks to service. Place was not crowded at all for 5:30 on a Sat afternoon/evening. Atmosphere was nice. I would only return here for drinks. more

Love it 4/8/2011

Great local pub with fresh Guinness more

Great place for casual drinks 9/15/2009

I've been several times, the bar staff is always polite and attentive, especially louie, marty, and toni - the live bands they have are phenomenal and the food is amazing! All around great place to be, I can dress up in heels or go in jeans and a t-shirt and feel comfortable either way Pros: Friendly Bar Staff more

staff unfriendly 9/5/2009

A very nice heated patio Pros: great kidney pie Cons: service more

Great place to relax and have a few drinks 6/2/2009

This is a great place to sit down and have a few drinks and cigarettes outside to relax. They also carry Strongbow cider, which is hard to find around here. We ate here once, and probably won't again. The food isn't necessarily bad, it's just way overpriced. I like when there's a live band playing too, and it's a good place to bring friends from out of town. Pros: Relaxing, outdoor seating, smoking, Strongbow Cons: Food overpriced more

Excellent 4/29/2009

Anyone who claims that this company delivers low quality foods should learn how to cook! I'm sure that classes are offered at Wake Tech and are fairly accessible to the general public. That being said, I understand the reluctance of any reasonable person to deal with ""shady"" or intoxicated delivery men trying to make an extra buck--I've seen many such individuals from Omega, who tell me that they have a ""few extra"" on the truck that they are letting go at a great price. Naturally, I tell these individuals exactly how uninterested I am. Recently, however, I was surprised when the actual Warehouse Manager, Denver, and the local Route Manager, Dwight, came to my door and asked for help. They explained to me that a driver had called in today, and that his deliveries were scheduled for that evening in Rocky Mount. Denver and Dwight were planning on going to a Dave Matthews Band concert that night and had received authorization from the company's owner to let the food that the driver was supposed to deliver go out at the company's cost, while rescheduling the food's original delivery time. I was a little bit skeptical at first, but once it became apparent that I wasn't conversing with ex-convicts I was immediately put at ease. And thank goodness I was. I ended up getting nearly 250 pounds of choice rated meat for $600! I even weighed it myself. I asked Denver what the deal was with drivers stopping by and trying to sell meat (though they were clearly not meant to be salespeople and should have stuck with their primary task for the day: delivering food), and he explained that he does offer his employees bonuses for signing up first time buyers, and that such buyers often receive their food at company cost as well. The best part of the whole thing was that as an added bonus for helping them out, Denver and Dwight promised to lock me in at the company cost rate, which I have taken advantage of on several occasions! To the person below: I'm not sure how you ended up paying $10 per pound with this company, but maybe it had something to do with that specific delivery driver scamming you--you never know what an unscrupulous individual will do to make an extra buck. My experience with the managers, however, has been wonderful, and I would recommend buying from them to any of my friends and neighbors! more

Best Irish Pub in Raleigh 3/1/2009

Really love this place. This is where me and my friends hang out every Friday and Saturday night. It's not a large pub, but that is what makes it so great. The staff is awesome, the bartenders are terrific, and the music and entertainment on Friday and Saturday night are awesome. Fridays have a band or soloist that come up on stage from around 10:00 to 2:00 am, and Saturdays are Karaoke night which is a must see. Pros: Service, Ambience, Value of food, Staff, Great Nightscene Cons: Can be crowded easily more

Quick service, Greasy food 8/26/2008

It's a great bar. But, an Irish Pub has to offer better fish and chips! May give it another try for the sandwiches that I have seen raving reviews detail. more

Great Service - Great time 4/20/2008

I am new in town and walked pasted this place (the Raleigh location) and stopped in for lunch. I sat in the front which is prime for people watching. I ate a great burger and had a beer, The service was great and the food was great. I ended up going back the next morning for brunch. more

Brilliant 4/14/2008

I love the food, service and atmosphere. Reminds me of some pubs I used to frequent back in the UK. Highly recommend. more

The sandwiches!! The delicious, delicious sandwiches! 1/25/2007

I've never had a single bad experience here. The service is consistently good and the food is always fresh and delicious. I don't know exactly how ""authentically Irish"" it is with tortellini on the menu and all but it is definitely worth a try if you're considering it. Pros: Any dish with chicken in it! Great service. Cons: Can be a bit crowded with loud after-workers at the bar more

Great atmosphere food and beer 1/9/2007

My husband and I love to meet our friends here for dinner and drinks. Especially if they are from ""up North"" the food is always good, the drinks go just right with both the food and atmosphere, and you're not surrounded by tv's in every corner ( there are a few, discreetly placed for those who need their fix. When it comes to Irish pub's you can't beat Hibernian, both in Cary and Raleigh Pros: Great atmosphere, beer and food more

If you like bad service and a smoky atmosphere this is for you 12/10/2006

We were so happy when HP came to cary. The one on Glenwood Ave in Raleigh was great. But we have been four times, each time avg food, slow service watered-down drinks and incredibly smoky atmosphere. Pros: only place open really late in Cary Cons: service food rinks atmosphere too smoky more

Great place to spend a night 8/22/2005

This is a spot you can go when you're asking yourself ""Self, what do you want to do?"" It has music, all kinds of people, food, drinks; I don't know about martinis,(what idiot orders a martini in an Irish pub) and good service. It's a great place to spend the weekend. more
