Had one visit there, after visiting their Open House last winter. Dr.Squires was very good I thought and very nice. The middle aged receptionist, whom I presume might be Dr.Hendrick's wife, not sure, was quite snippy on the phone And in person. Upon checking about a medication in person, was Not greeted in a welcoming manner, not even a smile. In fact, was treated in a curt manner and told to sit and wait while she went back to talk to the Dr. I felt as if I were imposing, and felt offended by her manner, so took my grandson and left!! A small thing maybe, but was taught that social graces, especially in dealing with the public, are Very important!!! I won't go back!! Also thought their prices way too high!! Nearly $50 for an office call to administer a required vaccine is ridiculous. Will be checking out the vet clinic at the Humane Society!! more

This office has helped me through the years with several dogs and have always been helpful and kind. Recently, I acquired an 8 month old puppy that is very frightened of men. The doctor sat on the floor of the exam room and was very gentle and quiet to ensure the trust of the puppy. He thinks she might have been hurt by an adult male and gave me options for training and suggestions for building her confidence and trust of men. Pros: CARING!!!!!! and reasonable prices more

My dog went in alive, but..... 7/24/2008

I took my dog to Hendricks in 1994 and still cannot drive past the place because it brings up such horrible memories. We took my dog there for a second opinion to see if she needed surgery on her leg - she was a bit older so we also wanted to see if she could withstand the surgery. They asked us to leave her there so Dr. Hendricks could examine her and run some tests. A few hours later someone called and said 'Your dog did okay during surgery, and is resting'. What??? Instead of examing her and giving us their views, they went ahead and operated on her - without our consent. She went into kidney failure and died three days after the surgery. I would NEVER take my animal to Dr. Hendricks, nor would I recommend it to anyone who actually wanted their animal to, oh, I don't know, BE ALIVE when they went to pick it up. Horrible nightmare of a place - stay far away. Pros: NONE. Cons: Too many to mention. more

Fabulous, reasonably-priced EXCELLENT vet care. 8/20/2007

My husband and daughter and I recently brought our dog there for the first time. He needed his annual exam, shots and we were a little concerned about a spot on his back. Turned out he had a hot spot. We were given medicated cream and fantastic instructions. The doctor was tender and ready to explain as much as we needed about how to handle the situation. They shaved our dog's back a bit, applied the cream, proceeded with a thorough exam and gave him his shots. We were in and out in about 30 minutes AND they came in UNDER the amount that was quoted over the phone for the costs - PLUS, they were the lowest quote we gathered when looking. Pros: Not a single bad thing to say - they are even open on weekends and take WALK INS! more

This place is fantastic!! 10/30/2006

The folks at Hendricks were fantastic. I started going on there on the recommendation of my sister. I have a Sphynx who lost his eye when he was a baby and gets chronic ear infections, so he's been through a lot. I wanted to find a place that would spoil him like I do and Hendricks was it. They were so fantastic both my sister and I kept them as our vet, even when we moved out of Boise. We couldn't be happier with the service and warmth they provide. Pros: Weekend hours, great staff more

Do not recommend! 1/18/2006

This was the worst vet experience I've ever had. I worked for a vet for 10 years so understand what's "normal" and have had animals my entire life so lots of vet visits the last 35 years. My dog is shy with strangers and is a recent shelter adoption (was abused before I adopted her.) They were extremely rough with her and made no attempt to try and make friends with her before treating her. Just offering a treat or a sniff would have been sufficient, but nothing. After sharing my experience with friends in Boise who also have pets, their response was, "I've heard that place is awful." I will never go back there again. more
