Most people step into any pet store and will fall in love with the first puppies or kittens kisses. PLEASE remember this these are animals that have parents outside suffering in cages. IT'S all about making money!!!! Even if the pet stores rescues puppies before they go the pound. So what, are they giving them away for free with shots and deworming NO!!! I am trying to figure out why people think a pet store, is supposed to smell like roses? I personally have worked in a pet store and can absolutely guarantee you, that if you were to walk into any pet store anywhere, it would smell, like an animal! Not all the dogs that are at Helga's were raised by Helga, and animals become sick the same way humans do, accidents happen, but there is no reason to lie and say that the animals do not get taken care of, i know for a fact they do, and no i do not work there. I do know, for a fact, that those animals are very much so taken care of, feed healthy nutritious food, cleaned, given there shots, and any other medication necessary. There is nothing wrong with Helga's Pampered Pets, i bought a dog there almost three years ago, and she's just fine, you can come see her if you need to!!!! Helga has got to be doing something right to be at the same location for 30 years. The new USDA inspectors are brought to Helga's when they are in training. Feel free to call and ask Dr. Gordon (Director, USDA for this district) For this review to say Helga's shop is not clean is a shame. I guess you might not satisfy everyone over a 30 year history and I know negative comments are the most passionate. Not really sure why they are getting such a bad rap. I bought a puppy form there many moons ago and she is still healthy as can be. I also have many friends who have also had great experiences.As far as cleanliness goes I mean how bad can we harp on a pet store? Maybe some people should slow down and take a second to be in thier shoes. Because if they didnt have such a large selection then there would just be more complaints. Just go in and have your own experience dont let a few people down grade a long time business. Pros: always a positive experience Cons: need more variety in dog accesories more

I am assuming that the only ""good"" review was made by someone who works at this shop. because this place reeks of desiese! I bought a kitten from the shop for $30 almost a year ago and even after their 'vet"" gave her it's check up and received a ""clean bill of health"" the cat has a severe case of Coccidia. I found this out after I came home and the cat lived with me for a night. It spread the Coccidia to the other cats and I was forced to euthanize her. A few months ago my friend purchased a chihuahua/pinchere mix who had Parvo. Their""vet"" said this puppy had a ""sore throat"". Sore throats do not give a dog red bloody stool. She had th dog tested at my vet, which gave the parvo results. Her husband tried to return the dog, but they wouldnt give him a refund. The humane society evauated the puppy and had to euthanize it. Also, friend of mine who have gone into that store have witnessed dogs that couldnt walk. The place reeked. They feed the dogs hot dogs, instead of high quality kibble. Not only that, but most of the puppies and kittens, even the guinea pigs and other small animals are mostly pred by Helga, making this a puppy/kitten/animal mill. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE! Pros: if you do adopt an animal from there at least its not in that facility any longer Cons: care, quality, health conditions, cleanliness, desiese, houseing conditions, staff way too pushy and are under educated, humanity (lack of), return policy, choosen Vet, overall condition. more

People are treated with the same courtesy they come in with! The store is clean and smells that way unless the animals do what comes naturally...EAT and GO! Imagine That!!!!! If you are looking for an animal you should expect some of those fragrances to be present ; if not try Bath and Body!!! And for those few who know nothing about the care of dogs(hookworms,parvo,etc..) I suggest they do some research before slandering!!! Pros: courtesy,good prices,healthy pets more

So the place wasn't impressive at all...not the cleanest place in the world, but my husband and I have not had a bad experience yet. My husband bought a dachshund from Helga's when he was smaller and the dog lived to be almost 15 years old. We just bought a puggle from Helga's and she's healthy as can be. After reading these reviews, I am very disturbed and doubt that I will ever buy another animal there. I guess I'm lucky I bought my puppy when I did. I bought a puppy from Helgas Pampered Pets.I bought my puppy on a friday and it died the following thursday. My puppy had parvo and when I called to tell helga's pet store about it the clerk that worked there said i was a liar and that the vet was probably wrong about the diagnosis. When I looked on the CKC paperwork so I could call the breeder and let them know that the puppy had parvo I found out that it was one of Helga's puppies rom her home. All I was offered was the brother from the same litter of the puppy that had parvo.The service is horrible and the people are mean.Do not buy anything from this store!!!!!!!!! My daughter bought a pet from Helgas and when she first got it the animal was very dirty, coat and ears. She took the dog home and cleaned it up only to find out it had Parvo. The dog had to be put down (after she spent over $800.00) to save the puppy. Cons: everthing more

A CLOSE FRIEND HAS PURCHASED A PUP FROM THIS STORE. AFTER SPENDING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS AT THE VET THE DOG DIED. MY FRIEND HAD THE DOG ONLY TWO WEEKS. I bought a puppy from this shop. It had both ear mites and hookworms. Neither of which were being treated. I took it to their vet for a free checkup, but I decided to take it to my own vet just in case. My vet is the one who told me. Please purchase your beloved pets from somewhere else. This place is horrible!! Pros: The only pro is that I rescued my puppy from this horrible place Cons: Everything!! more

I bought a puppy at this shop. The owner sold me food that the vet said wasn't good for my puppy. I wanted to buy the top quality kind but she insisted I that I buy this other brand which happens to give her the most profit. Not trustable. more
