one of my favourite restaurants 11/12/2008

Harry steak and cafe is definitely the go-to place for work lunches and dinners. Classic atmosphere and service with food that is consistently incredible and service that is top-notch. Even the one time I had a wait a while past my reservation since the table turn-over was slow, I had a drink at the bar which the wait staff picked up - totally top notch. Pros: service, food Cons: pricey more

Your defautl Downtown Brunch spot is HARRY'S! 6/12/2008

My girlfriend and I absolutely LOVE Harry's. We're residents of the financial district and there isn't much choice of restaurant in the weekends as most of the places are catered towards workday lunches but there is one standout on those hungry for brunch weekends. That place is Harry's! Great food, UNLIMITED champagne and very courteous service make this place #1 go to spot for us. Highly recommended. Stop by for brunch, enjoy a quiet nice atmosphere and you will not be disappointed. Pros: Food, decor, UNLIMITED DRINKS Cons: Pricey more

Excellent customer service, solid fare, pricey 6/2/2008

Ate here with my company and really enjoyed the customer service. The food was pretty good too and I liked the atmosphere. more

Great Food - Great Service 3/24/2008

I live across the street, and Harry's is our staple neighborhood restaurant. The food is always fresh and delicious - whether you have surf or turf. Ambiance is great at this historic Manhattan eatery. Never crowded, but not empty. Service is always impeccable. One quibble - can be a little pricey, but not really for Manhattan restaurants. Pros: Food, Service, Ambience Cons: A little Pricey more

One of the Best Dining Experiences in the City 8/15/2007

I have been to quite a few steak restaurants in Manhattan, but have had few experiences as good as my most recent visit to Harry's Steak. The restaurant is situated at the back of Harry's Cafe, in Hanover Square, near Pearl St. The service was impeccable from the very start, with the hostess seating us at a quiet table near the back. The ambience was perfect, dimly lit and very elegant. We started out with the lobster tail appetizer, followed by the porterhouse for two (which was delicious). The sommelier was extremely knowledgeable, and stopped at our table to find out the best wine for us. He recommended a French wine that went perfectly with our meal, and was probably one of the best I have had. Although we were stuffed from our meal, we had to try the tiramisu and the apple crumble for dessert, followed by the cheese plate. Once again, the sommelier suggested the perfect dessert wine to accompany it. I have honestly never had such a wonderful dining experience. The combination of exemplary service, delicious, well-prepared food (and dessert) and ambience made for the perfect evening. Pros: wine list, ambience, service more

Cant believe this doesnt have a better rating 12/17/2006

We moved to the financial district and have been scouting around for places that are open in the evenings and for brunch week-round. Consistently Harrys has been there for us and has pulled through on countless occasions. I have done a business dinner for 2 mid-week. I have taken a small group of family for dinner. I have hosted a major 7 person get together there. I have been there for quiet dinners for two. I have been there for weekend brunch. I have been there for after work drinks and eats in the bar. Every time the staff have been professional to a tee, the food and drink has been exemplary, and the experience has been good.\r \r As someone mentioned, there are actually 3 distinct areas to choose from. Mid-week the bar is rammed but if you can get in and get a table, there are great drinks and bar food to choose from. I can personally recommend the burgers and the steak sandwich - both of which are awesome. Normally I eat in the main restaurant which has a full selection of contemporary American with plenty of steak choices. Finally there is the steak restaurant itself. The restaurant and steak restaurant are both a little cavernous and it has been a little too quiet on the weekends at times, but the staff outnumber us 3 to 1 on the weekends so the service is ridiculously good. Mid-week it is bustling and full of energy but still a great bet.\r \r I think Harry's steak is in my top 5 in the city (top 1 and 2 being striphouse and lugers), and if you live in the financial district it would be crazy not to make this a local stomping ground!!! I hope this review helps their rating and I really encourage you to go give it a try! If you dont like the look of it you can always just head upstairs to Bayard's for another great great restaurant with a 9.1 rating on Citysearch, so it wont be a wasted trip whatever happens!!! Pros: A good bet for an otherwise patchy financial district. Great option for the weekend Cons: A little pricey, but the service makes it worth it for me. more

Skip the cafe, go to the restaurant 11/21/2006

Food and service in the cafe aren't too great, nor, really is the menu. However, the restaurant's service, food, and atmosphere are much better. I've been to each twice and the restaurant is where you want to be. Pros: Food, Service Cons: Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde Setup more

Elegant and sophisticated dinning beyond my expectations. 11/13/2006

My fiance and I had a Friday night reservation and our experience was definitely memorable. We a terrific dinner staring with a raw bar appetizer, then he had a rib-eye and I had lamb chops accompanied by a great bottle of Amarone. We will absolutely return with friends and family.\r Pros: Wine List, Menu, Setting and Service. more

A Wall Street Institution returns 8/30/2006

I haven't been to Harry's since it closed for renovations almost 3 years ago. The work that Peter and Harry have done to the space is great. The restaurant now has a cafe and steakhouse, and managed to keep a lot of the atmosphere that made the old Harry's so great. The cafe menu is broad, offering steaks, pasta dishes, and some great appetizers. Try the chicken kebobs, which are served with a small bbq grill that you can grill them on. Service was top notch, and the wine list will rival most of NYC's steak houses. Desserts were also superior-the apple crumb is highly recommended. Pros: Atmosphere, excellent and diverse menu, service more
