The BEST in Los Angeles... Hands Down 10/21/2009

I am a cheesecake fanatic, so much so that when I left the deliciously creamy cheesecakes of New York behind I went in search of the best Los Angeles Cheesecake, No Cheesecake Factory for me.... ew. While a few pricey restaurants have had worthy contenders, Harriet's... as they say ""takes the cake."" I have tried at least 10 flavors here and although some are not on the top of my list they are all amazing. The Praline, White Chocolate Strawberry, Sweet Potato, and Chocolate Brownie are some of my favorites. I actually love their cakes so much that I got my wedding cakes from here last year (they can make specialty sizes if you order in advance) My guests were so surprised at the amazing flavors and creamy texture and it cost about 1/3 of what it would have in a normal wedding cake shop. If its just for a slice or a whole cake, Harriet's is the best L.A. has to offer. Pros: Delicious Cheesecakes Cons: Not in a great neighborhood more

Lives up to expectations! 2/19/2009

Being a cheesecake lover, I randomly googled the phrase ""cheesecake in LA"" to see what came up. Given that I am from the inland empire and the only decent cheesecake around these is the Cheesecake factory, I was desperately hoping that my search would yield different options. Lo and behold, my extensive google search yielded sparse mentions of a place called ""Harriets Cheesecakes"". I decided to give it a try. I have to say that I got lost and ended up going in circles for about an hour before I found the place. But boy, was it worth it. The most delicious, creamiest, flavorful of cheescakes in Los Angeles, no doubt! I was warmly greeted by the smiling face of Harriet herself, who recommended the Kalhua Chocolate cheescake. Im not sure why I agreed to try it, given that I am more of a fruit/tart flavored cheescake person. But even though Im not too big on chocolate and Kaluah, this piece of cheesecake was amazing. A buttery, homemade crust...better than the manufactured cardboard crust that is served at most restaurants, excellent, balanced flavors, and a creamy texture. I will definitely go back to try another flavor (of which there are several!) such as the key lime or white chocolate raspberry. Pros: Cheesecake, service Cons: Price more

Best Cheesecakes EVER!!!!! Don't go anywhere else!! =) 2/9/2009

AMAZING!!! FABULOUS!! BEST CHEESECAKE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!! BEST THAT ANYONE AT MY PARTY HAS EVER HAD!! IF YOU DON'T EVEN LIKE CHEESECAKE YOU'LL LOVE HARRIET'S CHEESECAKE. I was lucky enough to get a few different slices of the variety they have and OMG!!! The raspberry with white chocolate was like a party in your mouth. The cookies and cream was oh so chocolaty delicious, the sweet potato pie was scrumptious, and the key lime pie is just what you need on a summer day. I can't say enough about these cheesecakes I will never go any where else! Kudos to Harriet and her family but you have to get the word out, that this is what cheesecakes are suppose to taste like. =) more

The Ultimate Cheesecake Experience 10/16/2007

I may be slightly partial. Though I am currently resident of the ATL, born in Chi-Town and fed Eli's as a family staple. My Foodie Life evolved as I grew up and moved around LA. I thought The Cheesecake Factory was the essence of cheesecake perfection while in my ""youth"", then I moved from LA (Olympic/La Brea) area to Inglewood - LaTijera/Centinela area. I had stumbled upon it several times, at several restaurants that I went to off and on - off Crenshaw in LA, then again in Inglewood. The distinct creamyness of it should have been a sign, but I didn't realize it until, I stopped into what was my favorite BBQ joint, Philip's, and decided to check out the neighbor. Back then, it was this skinny guy (the son, Michael) that greeted customers and offered suggestions with a small plastic spoon in hand. The first taste, I squeeked - I felt like I had broken a secret code....I knew it was it all along. The most perfect Cheesecake you will ever taste. Please forgive me for saying - not that chalky BS, those New Yorkers (my EX) constantly try to push as if it's a God sent gift ...they know nothing about stretching their tastebuds imagination. It put's Eli's to shame. My Best Girlfriend, Michelle B., just brought me a Sweet Potato Cheesecake (my Chicago and LA family) holiday favorite to the ATL. Now they're hooked. Please allow me to apologize in advance to Momma Harriet, Michael and family in advance, these Georgian's will be calling and probably placing on-line orders this holiday. Thank you for not changing Harriet's - I soooo miss you! Signed ~ The Once Skinny Creole Girl that used to stop by to taste a different flavor every week! Pros: Creamy Perfection, Every Flavor Imaginable, Small, Medium and Large Cons: Got Milk yet?, Not Fat Free more
