Harbor View Restaurant

When I first arrived I sat down and never got waited on . My husband went to the bar and got drinks himself. We moved to a table closier to the deck where the entertainment was.When the waitress came over , we asked her if it was Happy Hour prices and she said yes, so thinking the appeteizers are half price we ordered a few. Then the waitress informs us she is leaving and can we close out our bill. When we receive the bill we see she has charged full price , when we tell her about it , she says its 4th of July , so Happy Hour prices doesn't apply, we ask to speak to the manager and when we tell him what happened , he said there are no advertisements on the tables to say its Happy Hour, I tell him , your waitress told us it was Happy Hour and that was the reason we ordered the appetizers, he then told me the waitress told him she didn't say it was Happy Hour, I then told him , this was the second time this happened with the check , that I was charged full price on Happy Hour prices, I feel the waitress are deceiving and the management is worst . The music was good and the food is good but I wont go back to a restaurant that deceives the public. The management took $10.00 off the check , but he did not compensate for the rest. more

On 7/10/08 my husband and myself were told by a local friend to visit the Harbor View . When we arrived we were completly ignored by the hostess . We then waited in the crowded bar for 25 min. until she saw we were there . We were then escorted upstairs without even a "" hello"" or How are you"" . She then sat us at a dirty table and walked away . After 20 min. our server finally came to take our drink order . She was so rude and without any politeness"" What do you want to drink "" was her first encounter with us. Honestly , if not for my husband we would have left on the spot . When she finally came back to our table( after 15 min of joking around in the corner with the rest of the staff) she took our order in such a hurry, I forgot what I wanted . I am happy to say the only saving grace of the Harbor View is their food . I has the broiled salon and my husband had the broiled scallops.....all so good . It's a shame the food didn't out do the terrible service . Just an FYI, don't ask to see the owner , she is in the same corner with the wait staff laughing it up . Harborview is one of my favorite restaurants down the shore. The view is incredible and the food is great. The outdoor deck/bar on the water is phenomonal in the summer. The lunch prices are a little high but the food is excellent. They also serve unique breakfast selections and the food is excellent (although the potatoes are awful).
