My wife and I stayed at the Hansen House nearly two years ago on our wedding night. The memory of this beautiful bed and breakfast has remained with us and we are intending to return for our two year anniversary. Beautiful people and beautiful lodging. Outstanding breakfast that has forever raised the bar for Belgian Waffles. I cannot recall the cost of our stay, but I do remember feeling as though it was well worth it. Highly recommended for a special night. more

My husband and I stayed in the Wine and Gold room for our 2 year anniversary. It was magnificent! I loved the way it was decorated, it felt like you stepped right into a Jane Austen book. Our room was elegantly decorated, and very comfortable. The jetted tub worked great, the fireplace made it very cozy. The innkeeper was very nice and polite and cared for our needs. She gave us a history of the house over breakfast ( which was delicious). Breakfast consist of cresant sandwiches filled with ham, eggs, and cheese, half a Belgium waffle each, topped with whipped cream and berries. Everything was so delicious! The house is definatly a great stay. It was amazing to go around and look at all the furniture, pictures, and other amazing decorations that added to the Victorian style. We will recommend this place to anyone!\r The only con: you can't lock the doors, just a chain lock on the doors. more

A great place to take your Sweetheart!! 12/28/2009

My wife and I were looking for a new place to celebrate our wedding anniversary, when we came across this little known B&B. The 1887 Hansen house is like stepping back in time... completely... It was beautiful inside. Fran and Ed have done a wonderful job of maintaining an era of time with there home. We stayed in the Victorian room which was very comfortable. Fran served us breakfast in the formal dining room downstairs. We ate Belgian waffles smoothed with cream and blue berries along with ham and eggs. Then we were treated with the history of the house by Fran. We completely enjoyed our visit, and suggest that you give it a try. Pros: Wonderful hosts, comfortable rooms, Wonderful food! more

Awesome for everyone 8/22/2009

Fran and Ed were great, who ever left that terriable review was crazy, the experience was outstanding we stayed in the fox hunt room it was spacious well decorated, the jetted tub was big enough for me and my wife. When we checked in Fran greeted us asked if we had any allergies to any foods she asked if we wanted coffee, juice , milk . I would stay there over any other bed and breakfast the food was made fresh, not like other places that leave food at your door. I WOULD RECCOMEND THIS PLACE THE PRICE IS PERFECT AND FOOD AND COMPANY IS GREAT. Guys if you want to take your significant other somewhere great and romantic this is the place. Pros: Quiet,Elegant,Good company , Great owners more

Unique Experience 3/7/2009

I don't know what the other review was talking about. I booked the place based on the website and found it to be exactly as the pictures showed. It was charming and unique. Fran and Ed were gracious hosts and our room was beautiful. The breakfast we received was absolutely magnificent. We had Belgium waffles with mixed berries and a sweet cream sauce inside. There was more than enough food and my husband now expects me to cook that way. We stayed in the Blue Lagoon room with the large round bed. It felt like I was staying with family only I had a jetted tub and romantic atmosphere. The tub fit both my husband and myself easily and the bed was comfortable and cozy. The neighborhood is off the beaten path so it was quiet and relaxing which was exactly what we were looking for. I have reccommended it to all of my friends and family. Pros: charming, unique, quiet, good value if you consider the breakfast and room combined Cons: old house with all of the creaks that accompany that more

Stay somewhere else! 8/19/2007

Fran made it seem like a chore to check us in; she complained she was very busy etc. When we got to our room it was very dirty. Dust everywhere, cobwebs on the ripped curtains, sinks in the bathroom were missing a sink drainer and the faucets were dirty, carpet was stained and filthy.(No exaggeration!) I tried to hang a shirt in the closet but it was packed with their clothes as were the dressers. What really was interesting was that the ivy growing on the front of the house was growing in though a cracked window which was INSIDE THE CLOSET. We tried to make the best of it, but as soon as we undressed for bed and turned on the TV and air conditioner, the fuse blew. Not only for our room but for the room across the hall. In fact the fuse blew several times that night, each time requiring someone to get dressed, go downstairs and tell Ed/Fran. We only had on the TV and air. As you can imagine the thoughts of weeds in the closet and dirty bathrooms and dust everywhere just plain took the romantic moment right out of our anniversary. We never turned on the jetted tub since we were reluctant to set off another fuse. The web site said evening tea delivered to room and free newspaper. We were offered no tea and received none and no paper. Breakfast was NOT gourmet meal as promised. It consisted of a bowl of fruit and a small serving of scrambled eggs mixed with ham, onion and greenpepper. We had one small glass of OJ and there were no refills or other alternative drinks offered. We had a half of english muffin each, however the donuts were good. We left hungry. Fran gave us a brief history of the house while eating breakfast. I would have rather stayed at a cheap motel and eaten at a fast food restaurant! Their website designer really made the place look and sound great, in reality its NOT what the website makes it out to be. Ed/Fran are nice people but they are simply not in sound enough health to effectively maintain and operate a bed and breakfast Pros: good donuets, but that was it! Cons: dirty, bad electrical (blown fuses constantly), did I say dirty?? more
