WORST CLUB & LOUNGE BUSINESS PARACTICES IN THE CITY 11/1/2011

I paid thousands of dollars to rent the downstairs for a private party that was to go without compromise until 2am. The event manager Ariana appeared nice at first but quickly became out of control and shady once she had my $. The night of proved to be the worse birthday party I'd ever had. The door staff held my guest at the door for hours w/their regular weekly patrons (without telling me this wld occur) on top of that they summoned thousands of dollars out of my guests for them to get in. They completely disregarded our contract to allow 200 of my ppl in who had special tickets to identify them. It was a disaster. The staff was rude, toe slamming & disrespectful to say the least. They also opened the doors and allowed tens of stranger into my private party at appx 12am while my guests were trapped at the door being told they had to pay $400 per bottle to get in with a 2 bottle minimum. Because of the intrusion, one of my guest was struck by an object of some sort & suffered a horrible gash in his face that required 50 stitches to close!! It was insane. I have not been able to reach the owners or the Event manager since!! These are horrible shady business folks. I absolutely DO NOT recommend supporting this venue!! Stay far away! I will be happy to learn when they are shut down & forced to attend some business & ethic classes!! more

So-So Hells Kitchen Spot 3/29/2011

Brought a small group here for my birthday after hearing good things. This was my first time at the venue...not sure if its novelty has worn off but we were there for dinner at 8pm on a Saturday night and it was DEAD! Maybe 7-8 people besides our party of 6. Food was OK...nothing to rave about. Decor is cool/trendy...keeping in line with the neighborhood. more

I will NEVER go back to HK. 1/25/2011

I will NEVER go back to HK. Disaster. My coat was one of the many stolen on NYE. No one from HK will answer my calls or emails. I call twice a week. I'm out $300 now and to top it all off, the coat check cost $4 in addition to the $80 to get in (and by get in- I mean wait outside an hour and a half past the time on my ticket. they wouldn't let anyone in until well after happy hour began.) Please, save your coat and do not go here. EVER. more

Day drinking at its classiest... 4/23/2010

HK, Hells Kitchen, is a place I've only been to twice in my life and I can honestly say both times were a success. You go to HK with two things in mind on a Saturday afternoon: drinks and, well, drinks.\r \r The AYCD (all you can drink) is $13.00, which is fabulous. I stick to screwdrivers, but other options like mimosas, blood mary's etc..are available. There is not a drink limit or time limit and you can hang at the bar while you wait for your table. The staff is super friendly and for the most part keep up with the crowd.\r \r The food is not something I'd really write home about, but then again I've only had the veggie burger. Let's be honest though, both times I've been here, it hasn't been to have a 5 star meal. \r \r The atmosphere is uppity and the doors open completely so the place essentially is an indoor/outdoor venue. On a bright, sunny day this is the perfect spot to come and have a few drinks with good friends to get the Saturday started a little earlier.\r \r After your drinks there is an amazing street fair literally next door. What better way to end the afternoon than to let your financial inhibitions go and potentially find that vintage bag you've been dreaming of? Pros: $13 AYCD, atmosphere, no time limit Cons: Potential wait more

take your out of town friends to brunch 4/21/2010

So much fun. This is what brunching is about. Pumpin music, eye candy galore, and fantastic food. The whole wheat bananna special pancakes are heavenly! The menu is so broad and the staff is smiling and ready to help make those tough food picking decisions. Young, hip, and energetic spot. Pros: all you can drink $15!!! Cons: might have to wait- but worth it more

the best spot in the city 4/2/2009

Cute Restaurant! Hell describes everything else. 3/29/2009

My girlfriends and I went to HK for brunch the other Sunday, and it was a packed house. We didn't have to wait long which was nice. We ordered drinks and our food. 2 out of the 3 plates were messed. Our waitress was so busy so it was hard to flag her down. What presumed to be a manager, took our plates back to the kitchen. My order had a hair in it and the other order was the wrong eggs benedict. When our ""new"" food came out, we realized it was the same food that was taken in the kitchen. They removed the spinich from the eggs benedict and removed the hair from my food. How do I know? Well i cut into half the ravioli, and mysteriously the ""new"" plate had that half of ravioli still on it. No more brunch dates here. Pros: Cute Restaurant. Nice ambience. Cons: Service. more

HK IS SIZZLING 9/18/2008

I think HK is fantastic. it is so much fun. We came here for Brunch at the \r restaurant first and ended up having a fantastic time. The portions were more than \r generous and delicious with the most delicious french desserts. And the special \r they had was amazing for like $12.95 unlimited Bloody Marys, Mimosas etc with \r purchase of an Entree. And we had like the best server ever her name is Ricky and she rocked (just ask for her and you will be happy). After Brunch (which lasted forever thanx to those drinks) \r wasted a few hours and then walked in next door into the lounge area(located right \r next door to the restaurant) where the party was popping. I don't remember the \r last time I had so much fun. Now me and my boy friends are regulars and come here \r all the time. wed for FRAT BOY WEDNESDAYS, fri-sat are POPPING with really HOT \r GO-GO boys, and Sun IS HOT MESS-the craziest, wildest party in town that I have \r been going to religiously for like a year+ Pros: great space, hot crowd, good food, great drinks, hot staff, very relaxing Cons: not located a block from my house more

HK-THE HEAVENLY SIDE OF HELLS KITCHEN 9/18/2008

I just love HK Lounge and Restaurant. If you are in NYC you should definitely come and check out HK lounge. Its a great place to unwind, have a few drinks and to meet some of the hot locals from Hells Kitchen. The place is packed every day of every week\r \r HK is amazing for FRAT BOI Wednesdays and also HOT MESS Sundays both of which rock and are always ""packed to the rim"" with the hottest boys I have ever seen (not counting the go-go boys). \r \r If that's not enough, the Go-Go boys on Fridays and Saturdays are to DIE for, honestly I don't know which one I would rather sleep with (they are SO HOT and so out of my league but SO FUN to watch). \r \r The staff is nice, courteous and sincere and service is great which adds to the fantastic atmosphere which is classy and laid-back but A WHOLE LOT OF FUN and honestly, this place doesn't have bad nights. So if you are in the city you should def come and check the place out.\r \r As far as the restaurant goes the food is BANGING!!!! All I can say is chocolate souffle YUM!!! And everyone in the restaurant is so nice. Honestly if you want service with a smile, this is the place to go, you will not be disappointed. Pros: ambience, crowd, service, energy more

Very nice lounge, creepy guys on Sunday night 9/8/2008

The hot mess on Sunday is not the day to go. The crowd is too young and wannabe model. The bartenders were rude. more

great date spot and then some 7/3/2008

my boyfriend and i went to HK for dinner last weekend. it was such a great time. our service was great and the food was delicious. we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table because it was so packed, but we luckily nabbed a seat at the bar and chatted with the friendly bartender over a cocktail while we waited. when we sat, the waiter took our order and we hardly waited any time at all before our food came to us. everything was great. the lighting was low with a romantic candle on the table and we both had a really nice time. as we were finishing up the waiter asked we were going next door. little did we know there is a huge club attached to the restaurant. so we paid and went over to check out HK Lounge. it was hot! great music. hot bartenders. hot boys. we had some drinks, danced a little, and chatted with some friends we knew that were already there. overall, it was a perfect evening. we will definitely be going back. more

my fierce new brunch spot 7/1/2008

i recently went to HK for brunch with some friends. we first walked in to be greeted by a cute host who promptly took us to a nice table near an open garage style door. he informed us of the unlimited drink special and that brunch was cash only. this was a little frustrating until he said there was an ATM right downstairs. within a few minutes our server, who was very attractive, came over to get our drink order. when brought our drinks, he took our food order and we enjoyed the nice wheather and warm atmosphere until our food arrived. i was surprised at how quickly the food came out considering how busy the restaurant was. i ordered the chicken club. i'm a big fan of food and have had a lot of it. i have to say this sandwich was absolutely amazing! it was full of flavor and the fries were hot and tasty. my friends were equally impressed with their meals as well. during the meal our glasses never seemed to empty as the server was walking around filling us up the whole time. the food was great. the drinks were great. the service was great. i'm much looking forward returning to HK and making it my new brunch hot spot. i definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes good food, drinks, service, and a real cute staff!! commendable work!! Pros: food, drinks, service, ambience, cute staff more

avoid this place 6/8/2008

3 of us ordered burgers, medium-rare or medium, all came well-done. sent them back, got them back well done. flavorless and bad. it was a 90+ degrees day, we were one of 3 parties in the restaurant at the time and we practically had to beg for our water glasses to be refilled. finally, when the bill came, every entree we got (5 of us) had $1 tacked on to it. according to the waiter, that's what the computer is programmed to charge. so beware! the menu price and the bill price will be inconsistent. bad food, bad service, bad, bad, bad, bad. avoid this place. Pros: the interior is nice Cons: food, service, oh and the fraudulent billing more

a must 1/22/2008

So I've been here before, always enjoyed it. I love, love, love the food! Especially the escargots, which is quietly the best in the city. The drinks are awesome too, but OMG you have to see the new HK Lounge. It is absolutely one of the best looking places in the city. I was so fooled by the modest outside, only to walk into the type of luxurious setting that one could get used to. The music was energizing, the staff was delightful, and even the owners are HOT! It was just a great time! You should get there quick, like most hidden gems in the city, they don't stay hidden for long. Pros: service, food more

worst service EVER 11/11/2007

My friend and I arrived at just after 12 am. All advertising and info says they serve until 1 am. We have good friends who work in the club side and were here for a party but decided to eat here first. We walked in and stood there waiting for someone to greet us. No one did. There was ONE other table in the entire restaurant and someone there with them. This someone obviously saw us and did not respond. We continued to stand there. There were a number of people at the bar drinking with the bartender. Finally after close to 5 minutes, my friend waved down the one employee and he informed us in foreign english that they were open and that the waiter would be with us in a moment. he was obviously a barback or busser and the actual server was nowhere to be found. I should insert here that I actively, presently work in the service industry as a bartender and have for over 8 years. I always wonder who would take the time to write these reviews until I had tonight's experience. At this point I approached the bar and the bartender acknowledged me. I said to him that we had been up front for 5 minutes and that we wanted to order food and wondered if they were still serving since no one could be bothered with serving us. Yes I was annoyed and probably was a bit smug but not rude. The bartender responded to me in the most condesending, obnoxious manner I have EVER encountered. He, in a mocking tone, told me it was a friends birthday and they were doing shots and that is why they were busy. I then greeted any number of nightlife people I knew at his bar which made him swallow his words then suddenly he offered service and got us a server and a table. If I accomplish one single thing with this review I would hope it would be for someone to admonish this bartender, his tone and manner were unforgiveable. From there on in, we were provided with polite but less than attentive or quick service. We were the ONLY table and had to make an effort to get our servers attention. Pros: decent food, good bar area Cons: SERVICE SERVICE AND SERVICE more

Better Bruch Service at the Soup Kitchen Around the Corner 9/26/2007

The food is good, if you can get over being completely ignored by the host and wait staff. No reservations for brunch. No credit cards on Saturday/Sunday from 9-5, and they don't tell you this until after you attempt to pay the bill. more

A hidden hotspot in the west side of town. 8/13/2007

I started coming here a couple of years ago when a friend of mine told me to meet up for happy hour. At first I couldn't find this place since it is situated in the middle of nowhere and right nearby the backside of Port Authority.. However, it was the greatest discovery ever! They have two happy hours, an after work one, and if you stay sober enough, you can make the late night happy hour at 11. The martinis and cocktails were 5 dollars and they were intricate well made drinks. Since then, I've been a regular along with my coworkers. This small pretty Asian girl at the time, was our barmaid and she was super sweet and very well-tipped for the comped shots we were given. She told us about brunch specials there and we came back for more and more... The owners are these young Greek cousins and they were modest and we noticed they struck a conversation with almost everyone at the bar. This is a place that actually cares about their customers. I wish to see more of this in Manhattan. This year, they finally opened up the addition to their back lounge and it is amazing. It was well worth the wait, for sure!! The only thing though, it seems to attract a lot of the gay crowd, every good looking man in the place, I have to second guess before I strike up a smile. Also, I wish HK hired better looking staff again, back then their staff were full of pretty and sweet women from all over the world. Pros: almost everything, nice bathrooms Cons: at times service is slow more

Dinner left me hungry 5/5/2007

I noticed Fat Sal's Pizzeria across the street after a good 20-minute wait for the first course. Perhaps that could have been a wonderful alternative. As this is my first post, I do admit that my writing this review was prompted by the poor food I was served at HK. Our party decided to order ""family"" style and share our food, so that could explain why I was not completely satisified and left hungry, but the attempt by HK to have innovative dishes failed in my book. Swordfish over Israeli couscous - the swordfish was overcooked and dry and the couscous was undercooked and hard. Fried calamari - over cooked and really greasy, but nice portions. Fries - it's hard to go wrong here, but they were cold. Arugula and bocconcini salad - small and underwhelmed by the cold, roasted tomato. Crabcakes - complete with fillers, but it was tasty. On a positive note, the service was friendly, fun and attentive, but I am not sure our waiter was friendly with the chef. Pros: Nice ambience and fun clientele. Cons: Traffic headed towards the Lincoln Tunnel can be a drag. more
