I purchased a Gold Membership in 2/09 and renewed in 2/10 for another year. First year I used a M/C, 2nd year I used a Visa debit. Was not intending to renew in Feb. of 2011. I happened to check my Chase Visa on 2/24 to my surprise, they automatically charged it $746.25. The only reason they had this card on file is because I bought a $5 bottle of bubbles last month. According to them, I didn't initial the cancellation on the original 2009 document, therefore they auto-renewed my yearly membership. Nowhere on that document does it state they will auto renew, it implies it by stating you have to cancel 1 week prior to the 12 week billing cycle and no refunds. I did not authorize for auto payments. This is borderline criminal! The refuse to refund stating I signed a contract. If you saw this piece of paper, it is not a contract! They have a mastercard on the original document listed anyway. My Visa is going to dispute the charge and I closed the account. What a hassle. To top it off, in Nov of 2009, my then 16 month old followed me to the bathroom from the play floor and when I came out to shut the door, she slipped her hand in the hinge side and her index and thumb tips were almost completely severed. We did not pursue legal action because we considered it an accident. After surgery and $3k out of pocket expenses, we were relieved that the best pediatric hand surgeon in the area as able to save her fingers. I recommended a hinge guard to the door to avoid this from happening again. To this date, no hinge guard is on the door. Very shady business! They also did this to a friend of mine & she signed the cancellation, but didn't initial the the cancellation on the so-called "contract." She didn't fight it because she had just given birth to her 2nd child and didn't have the energy. The manager basically told me, I signed the contract! Wish I could post the so-called contract online; wouldn't hold up in court.
