I have just purchased a .22 for target practice and had trouble with the bolt lock mechanism. I was searching for a gunsmith to help me and found Gunmasters after a Google search. The negative reviews greatly alarmed me but I could not find another gunsmith to help me near my area. After my positive experience I felt compelled to weigh in with my opinion. On a busy Saturday, the gunsmith there (Charlie) took the time to work on my rifle while I waited. Fortunately it was an easy fix made with a metal file by an expert but it only cost me $20. While I was there I needed to purchase a few other items and talked to four different salespeople on the floor. They were extremely friendly, courteous, helpful and patient with my many, many questions. Charlie (the gunsmith) even weighed in on a few questions that the salespeople could not answer (as busy as he was). I found their prices to be good. The ammo was a bit more expensive than Walmart but with gas prices what they are, I?d rather make Gunmasters my one stop and give the small business my support, especially after my enjoyable experience there. more

On or about 24 April 2009 I called a Texas gun dealer and I ordered and purchased a 9mm Berretta pistol. The salesman name was Steve he asked me where I lived and he suggested that I use gun masters 5001 K Ave Plano TX 75074 to do the FLR transfer. He told me that the gun would arrive at the store on 29 April 2009. I called the store on 30 April to see if the gun was there they told me it was. I arrived at Gun masters at 4:00pm and attempted to pick up my previously purchased firearm. The salesman said I needed a Texas driver’s license with a utility bill with the same address on it. I told him I was in the US Army and that I was stationed here and lived in Plano. He said that the federal ATF form 4473 paper work states that you must have a Texas driver’s license and that’s the only ID that is required to purchase a hand gun in Texas. He got really upset with me and said you have to leave and I will send the gun back when I get time. I asked if I could speak to the owner of the store or the manger. He said I will get the owner. I showed a gentleman with gray beard a copy of my orders and my military Id and he tried to push them on the floor off from the counter. He said very loudly these documents are no good in Texas. You have to leave my store now and never come back. I again asked him are you refusing to file a 4473 for me. I asked what is going to happen to my property that I purchased. He said very loudly when I get time I will send it back to them and get out of my store and don’t return unless you are escorted by a police officer. I don't expect much from gunshops but these guys exceeded even my low expectations. Arrogant attitudes all abound overshadow a fairly decent selection. Total waste of a very nice-looking shop. I make the 40 mi. trip to Ft. Worth to another gunshop in lieu of the 5-mile drive to these jokers. Avoid at all costs! Pros: Decent selection Cons: Awful staff on repeated visits more
