It amazes me how GR gets such bad reviews. Have shot at many ranges and the Gun Room is a bit above average for an indoor facility. Possibly people get their ego's hurt because there is a prominent sign at the stating that if you do not act in a mature manner, you can not shoot there? All ranges enforce similar doctrine although they may not state it outright.
As to the store, yes they are a bit overpriced. There is a fine selection of O/U, pump and auto shotguns. Their rifles are mainly bolt action types intended for hunting. They do not carry assault rifles which seems to infuriate some people, not me...
A couple of times I have wanted a firearm which RC was out of but was in stock here for just a few bucks more. In those cases the GR got my business. I have always been treated courteously by the employees, possibly my positive attitude was returned in kind???
There is the old Winchester range which has limited gun sales and a nice simi-outdoor range. But RC, or the other places which have a large stock of firearms have no range whatsoever!!!
disclosure: Am not an employee of the Gun Room nor can I even tell you who owns the place. Belong to a local gun club that is quite large and offers a variety of shooting venues. Have shoot handguns competitively at numerous ranges. Have taken quite a few classes and seminars, safety is always the paramount aim. Have never been thrown off a range for miss conduct.
Public ranges are a dwindling resource. Appreciate them while they are still here!
