Terrible service, average food 9/16/2011

We arrived here hoping to find a simple Italian meal but unfortunately the waiter had some sort of mental disability or social ineptitude. The first bad sign was when he literally threw the menus on the table. Okay sir, this isn't New Jersey, it's Seaside, Oregon. When we finally went to order he would tell us what we wanted before we could finish putting in our order, constantly interrupting us until the point my Wife's mother gave up trying to order and put her menu down on the table in frustration. For around $15 for a plate of spaghetti it's not unreasonable to expect a waiter to have basic social/people/conversational skills. The whole meal I was on edge expecting the waiter to freak out about something or spit in our food. In the end, the food was actually passable, but way overpriced for what it was. It was happy hour and the wine was $3 a glass, which was really the only good thing about this place. Unless you are desperate or just want a cheap glass of wine served with some ""attitude"" I'd avoid this place like the plague. more

One of the worst meals we've ever had... 3/27/2008

We were a party of 6 and arrived very excited to eat some great italian food. We discovered there were new owners (2/1/08) and they didn't have a liq. license yet. Bummer, but we thought we'd be ok w/o it. We ordered an appetizer of stuffed mozzarella breadsticks, which came with a pomodoro sauce. This was fantastic! We all loved it. Next came the salads, which were pretty good, more than just a regular old iceberg side salad. We waited 45 minutes for the entrees to arrive. When they did, the server offered us fresh-grated parmesan. She proceeded to shred cheese all over the our plates, the table, and our laps. Here's what we ordered: 3 fettucine alfredos (one with shrimp), 1 aglio e olio pasta, 1 eggplant parmesan, and 1 bowl of soup. Here's what we received: The fettucine alfredos were made with pasta that was cooked about halfway to al dente and smothered in a horrible, sweet cream sauce that tasted of nothing. The one with the shrimp in it actually made me gag when I tried it--it tasted as if the shrimp had thawed out in the sauce so that the 'shrimp juice' was throughout the sauce. On top of that, the sauce had curdled/separated and was grainy. The aglio e olio dish, which should have been a basic garlic, olive oil, and pasta dish arrived in a bowl and thank god, or else the 1 cup of olive oil that the pasta was floating in would have dripped all over the table. Every slice of garlic (of which there were probably 200) was raw. There was about a cup of pasta floating in the bowl of oil and covered with garlic slices. The eggplant parm was not bad, definitely the best thing we received. We were all so turned off by the food. But the question is...how does a table of six send back all of their food? And what else could we order? We had a huge cross-section of the menu on our table. I would recommend avoiding this restaurant, except for the mozzarella breadsticks. Maybe ordering something with the pomodoro sauce would be good--it was great with the breadsticks. Pros: Pretty decor, located downtown, good mozzarella sticks & pomodoro sauce Cons: Outrageously priced BAD food, service below par, no liquor license! more
