The lunch buffet here was a perfect 10. Most lunch buffets do not bring out great quality food for their all-you-can-eat. This one did. The rice, various stews, and other options ...

Unclean, Unfresh Food !!!!! 5/9/2010

I happened to see what went on in the kitchen.. Would not want to eat there again.. Some Left over food of customers are put back in the fridge for next customer; would be good if health department found this out.. Owner smokes inside the kitchen while preparing food dishes.. Most of the food is made several days ago and frozen in the fridge while advertising fresh; Price is high for what is offered. Pros: Persian food Cons: Unclean; not freshly made; more

stale food, cooked and kept in freezer for a week then served 2/26/2009

Green Onion was good when it was on 2nd avenue, that good will made her popular but since she moved the restaurant to SW Jackson, the food quality, taste went down the drain, the only remaining quality is her friendly attitude. I have been following this restaurant since it was on 2nd avenue. The food in this restaurant is not freshly cooked, she cooks them and keeps them in the freezer and serve them as launch buffet, some times the food is not even warm, its still cold while its on the stand. the taste and quality is really way below Persian food standard, the Persian locals in Portland, never eat in Green Onion and Persian house on Morrison avenue, their food is awful and expensive, try Pasha on 5th and Burnside, opposite to US Bank Corp tower, Pasha food is fresh and tasty, the quality and service is unmatched.\r sorry to ruin you fun with Green onion.\r \r Pros: good service Cons: no parking, bad stale food more

Best Persian Food in town 12/11/2008

The lunch buffet here was a perfect 10. Most lunch buffets do not bring out great quality food for their all-you-can-eat. This one did. The rice, various stews, and other options were all what you would expect from the pricey dinner menu. If you are ever by PSU for lunch and like Middle Eastern food, this is the place. Pros: Lunch Buffet has excellent quality food Cons: Dinner like most Middle Eastern restaurants is expensive more

great service 2/1/2008

The owner is really nice! This is not the best Persian food you can ever get, but compared to other persian restuarants in Portland is a very nice place, not in the case of food but in case of atmosphere. she is very friendly and caring. however the good is a bit below my Persian standard, but my American friends all adore the food. If you are an Iranian, you might not enjoy the food that much but I am sure you'll enjoy the atmosphere. Pros: friendly atmospher; Iranian food; vegie-friendly more

Wonderful.... Always! 1/25/2007

I've been going here for a couple of years now, and have never, ever been disappointed. The owners are wonderful, and I highly recommend letting them choose your meal for you since they always know best! The music is fun, the space is comfortable, and the food is to die for. At the risk of turning a quiet romantic restaurant into a trendy, hipster, hangout, everyone should check out the Green Onion, as it's one of the best restaurants in town. Pros: Wonderful food, giant amounts of said wonderful food, great atmosphere Cons: It's sometimes hard to stop eating the main course before it's too late for the ice cream more

looking for a cozy place to unwind? 12/5/2006

Having just moved to Portland from New York, it was nice to find a hookah bar/cafe that offered all the comforts of home. The service was not only fast and friendly, but there was the overall feeling of being in your grandmother's kitchen. The owner went out of her way to make us comfortable, enjoyed amicable conversation with us, and cracked jokes the whole time we were there. She also seems to have an admirable knack for remembering people, which is something I look for in a casual haunt. The combination of Middle Eastern music with hookahs and backgammon gives the place a fun and somewhat authentic feel, and the Persian tea was some of the best I've ever had. Whether you're looking for a quick bite, a casual date joint, or a perfect spot to sit and write/ do homework, this is the one for you. Pros: hookahs, relaxing atmosphere, great service Cons: close proximity to PSU makes it very hard to find parking more

so so 6/20/2003

Authentic it's not. The pita bread, which shouldn't be an offering in the first place, was stale. From chicken dishes, appetizers, to Basmanti rice, everything just tasted a notch down from real good Persian food. Nevertheless, given the poor alternatives in Portland, I'd go back. more

The Best 8/6/2002

I enjoyed the food and the ambiance of the resturant. The food was wonderful and there was a wonderful menu to choose from. The owners of the place do all the cooking and serving, and they were fast and friendly. It was also a nice place for casual dining, or a great date place. more
