My husband recently bought a trailer from these guys. From the first time we went in, no one acknowledged us. We stood around for 15 minutes before anyone even talked to us. When someone finally addressed us, they basically told us what they had and didn't even walk out with us to show us what was available or features or anything. We had to go out and look on our own.
When we decided on a used trailer, we again waited around for over an hour before they finally told us we couldn't take it that day and would have to come back for it.
When we went back for the trailer, again, no one talked to us, or helped us, or showed us how to tow this particular trailer. We picked up some hay on the way, and the trailer caught on fire, igniting and burning all of our hay and the back of the truck.
It was determined that the brakes had locked up and ignited the hay we were hauling. We called Great West and told them what had happened. They were on the defensive from day one and refused to do anything to try and help. They came and picked up the trailer while we were there, and their employee told us that he could feel the brake getting stuck and showed us.
They changed their story several different times, and continued to fight us on everything. They tried to tell my husband that the reason the fire was started was because he overloaded the trailer, and the next time they told him it was a conduction fire, because of the heat of the day/hay. They never would stick to their story and they continued to try to abstain from fault.
My husband realized they weren't going to do anything, and went to pick up the trailer 3 different times and they fought him about taking it every time. The original tires had exploded/ignited in the fire so Great West had put their tires on the trailer to haul it back to their shop. They told my husband he couldn't take the trailer with their tires on it. So he told them he would be back in a week, and they could get their tires off by then. When we went back they still had the tires on it, so we loaded it up and left. They called and threatened to call the sheriff because we had just stolen the trailer, etc. etc. So we went back and they told us their was a tow bill because we had a ""verbal agreement"" that if it wasn't their fault we would pay for it. We never agreed to anything, in fact we never asked them to tow it back, they did that on their own.
This whole thing went on for over 6 weeks and they never would admit to anything, even though the fire report said that the fire was started by the heated brakes. All we wanted was for them to show some customer service and work with us, but they refused to do so.
