Great Scott Kennels

When it comes to boarding my dogs and having somebody with experience and knowledge fill the void when I must be away on travel, the only place that has earned my trust and loyalty through the years, is Great Scott Kennels. The Murphy family knows dogs, simply stated. I know my dogs are well cared for and look forward to spending time with the owner, Bill. It would be impossible to find another kennel as caring and accommodating. I also like the fact full grooming services can be coordinated so when I return, I have clean and happy dogs waiting. One of my dogs requires (Terrier) hand stripping which most groomers today do not offer. Great Scott has the best reputation around. For me, Bill's kennel is outstanding and covers all bases at an affordable rate. You would be hard pressed to find another kennel environment as attentive, friendly and professional. more

We have been using Great Scott Kennel for boarding and grooming for the last 20 years. After taking our first dog to some pretty scary places, we found Great Scott Kennel. Our first dog lived to be 18 years old and we would never board her or have her groomed anywhere else. Even as she got on in years Bill and his Dad would take extra time if not all day to groom her so she would be comfortable. Billy was there for us and our dog right up until she passed. After some time, we now have ""Sophie"". We can't even mention ""going to Billy's""because she gets so excited and can't get in the car fast enough!! Bill Murphy is quite knowledgeable. Any questions are always answered and if Bill doesn't know the answer...which is rare...he gets the answer. Bill is one of the most responsible and dedicated people I know. I have sent many people to Great Scot t Kennel and I have never heard anything negative. My family jokes that if there is an afterlife we want to come back as one of Bill's dogs!! I went to look at Great Scott Kennels in hope of finding a boarding facility for my dog. when I got out of the car I was greeted by friendly staff and brought in to look at the kennels. Walking in I thought ""this isn't bad!"". Once that door opened I felt sick. Dogs were crammed in everywhere in the smallest of cages. Some could not even sit up or turn around. There was a huge Pit Bull shoved in a tiny cage up high that a cat could barely fit in. He had no blankets, cage liners, or water. I just cannot get over those kennels. They should be shut down for animal cruelty. The place was sooo hot and smelly. I wouldn't even send a dead dog there! Great Scott Kennel and Bill Murphy are simply the best. We have had our little girl there for both daycare and boarding for over 10 years. Bill cares deeply about these dogs, as if they were his own. I cannot repay him for the love and kindness he has shown our baby , especially as she is in the last period of her life. Pros: loving kindness, truly caring Cons: none!! more

I have been using Great Scot for about 15 years. I have always been happy with the professionalism and compassion shown by Billy. He is a very unique person with a very obvious passion and love for animals. You have to be a very special person to dedicate the amount of time and energy that he devotes to the animals in his care. He is very kind to my dog and my dog is ALWAYS happy to go spend some time there. Billy has helped me out many times with issues related to my dogs. He has always been very helpful and informative. He will always take the time to talk to me and answer all of my questions. When I go out of town, I have total piece of mind knowing that my dog is in Billy's care. I do not worry one bit about my dog because I know Billy will take care of him. The service that Billy provides is top notch. You can rest assured that your dog will be treated very well and taken care of. I would NEVER go anywhere else, NEVER! I have used GSK, many times and my dogs came home happy and healthy with their nails trimmed. Billy goes out of his way for me to allow me to pick up my pets at a time that is convenient for me. The best part of the location is that it is right next to Lloyds, just in case. I recommend it to anyone who asks. It is old, but that means nothing but they have been in business a long time, gotta say something. Pros: Location and great owner more

WOW! Pooka333 has to be a disgruntled EX- employee-!! She's completely out of line. I've been boarding my dogs with Bill for years. Not only does he provide exceptional care for the dogs but the kennels are spotless. In fact he has a 24/7 policy- completely transparent- you can visit the kennel anytime, nothing to hide. Bill cares so much about the dogs in his facility that he feeds them EVO dog food, (one of the highest quality foods available). The kennel is family owned and operated and has been in business since 1947; so they have to be doing something right!! more

I have been bringing my Scotties to Great Scot Kennel since 1970 back in the days when my dad had to drive me and the dogs and he paid the bill for the grooming by Bill Murphy's dad Jim. Bill does a fabulous job on my dogs. He now works on # 4 and # 5 Gingerina and Margie Mae. His Dad and Uncle were very well known in the Scottish Terrier world. Great Scot is one of the very few places that does the hand stripping that Scotties require. more

I used to work there. I am disgusted by the place. Many dogs were neglected, unfed for days, meds were skipped, some were left to play with their own feces. That facility should be closed down. Great kennel and very reasonable. My lab came home tired (this is a good thing) from all the great exercise he got at the kennel. the owner has the dogs in outside pens when the weather permits. THe kennel owner is very aware of all the dogs in the kennel and even told me what my dog liked and disliked during his stay. Dogs are crated at night but my dog goes into his crate at home freely so it was not a big deal to him. The owner was very receptive to me bringing my own food. My dog is not just a dog but a member of my family and Great Scott Kennels treated him like that! Pros: Outside run, receptive owner, Great price Cons: None! more
