Grand Valley Marine

Grand Valley Marine is under New Management. John Noel went to be with the Lord back in Aug. 2012. Jeff Noel (his Son) has stepped in and made a lot of changes. Jeff owns the Grand Haven location (formerly Skipperbudds) and has a great reputation for taking care of his customers. Grand Valley Marine has dealt with a lot of customers over the last 35 years, and there are a lot of happy customers out there. So just because you see a few bad comments on the internet, just realize that the happy customers don't have a need to tell the world about how good the service is, only the unhappy people do. Shady business, stay away!!!! I called GV and told them my problem. Gear lube was leaking from a water drain hole on the lower unit. He seemed to know exactly what I was talking about, quoted me a price, but said he would have to check it out to be sure. That was fine with me so I dropped it off and told them to CALL ME FIRST BEFORE ANY REPAIRS WERE MADE. They left a message a couple days later that it was done. The bill was more than $50 more than his quote. When asked about it he tried to tell me he only quoted labor. Yeah, right. I politely told him that's why I wanted a call first. He then started getting upset and said he didn't have time to call everyone with prices. To top it all off after I pulled the boat 70 miles and put it in the water, I had no reverse. They also denied having anything to with that. (No surprise) I will NEVER go there again. more

I have had better experiences with GV Marine. After neglecting my boat for a few years, their mechanic got it in top shape in reasonable time and expense. He did requested repairs then advised me of additional concerns. I was 100% satisfied. I also had canvas work done. New seams, new snaps, new border.... for about $200. Made the cover good for another 10 years. Beats $1,000 for a new one! Too bad Brett838 had a bad experience. Sounds like GV handled it poorly. more
