Bully and Tyrant Owner 4/10/2012

Recently, I had the misfortune to dine at Gordo’s with my family who were visiting from out of town. When we arrived, the Owner was sitting in a chair near the front door….asleep. When he awoke from his nap, he jumped up to greet us. He showed us to our table and when my mother commented to the server that she felt the house wine was overpriced. The Owner proceeded to come to our table and lecture us that his rent is $500/day and he pays $3.50 for that glass of HOUSE wine and then $0.90 tax. Clearly we must look like we just fell off the turnip truck. Then we witnessed him chastising the wait staff in front of customers. This man is a TYRANT and a BULLY to his staff and his clients. Admittedly, the food was good and our server did everything she could to make up for the Owners ignorance and lack of class. It was clear why the restaurant was nearly empty. He will never have to worry about me or anyone I know darkening his door ever again. more

horrible experience 3/22/2012

I bought a coupon to use at this restaurant. This is the only reason we ate there. \r \r I got the spaghetti with meat sauce. Yuk. awful.\r \r When I gave the coupon to the server the manager came out and said ""where did you get this"". He kept leaving and coming back like he couldn't find the information. Bottom line he wouldn't honor the coupon. \r His employees commented on his actions. Guess he's not a good employer. \r \r Anyway will NEVER go back.\r \r more

Wow! My wife and I just had dinner at Gordo?, Preston Center for the first time, we took my mom and dad as a treat and boy were we pleased; I don?t know why we haven?t been here before. Everything, especially my seafood pasta was simply wonderful. The service was excellent every need was anticipated and George the General Manager made us feel special. Everything was priced very reasonable. GREAT FOOD ? GREAT SERVICE ? GREAT PRICE ? We we?ll be back soon. more

Howling Good Place 3/23/2009

This is the place we have been looking for for a long time. Id does not have the big open room that most heve. You feel like you are in the place almost all by yourselves. The food is great but the rest makes one of a kind. This is the way to go for dining out. Pros: Not just a ""Big Open Room""!! Cons: None that matters more

Great relaxing place to enjoy with family and friends 3/14/2009

Gordos is a great place to enjoy a relaxing lunch with family or friends. The staff is great and very attentive and makes you feel at home. My family and I had the "" Great White Pizza and I most say it is the best around. I recommend this place and tell your friends:) Pros: The best ""Great White Piza"" more

Gotta try the Great White Pizza! 3/13/2009

We make it a point to visit Gordo's if we find ourselves in Dallas, and we are never disappointed. My favorite dish is the Great WHite Pizza with a side of the house dressing, a rich-tasting tarragon vinagrette that makes the house salad a real treat. Pros: Affordable food in classy setting Cons: It's in Dallas more

Fabulous Italian Dining 3/13/2009

My husband always impresses me whenever he takes me on a date to Gordo’s. Both of us enjoy the wonderful hospitality all of the wait staff shows. Next time you visit Gordo’s, be sure to try the tomato basil soup, and their world-famous variety pizza; these two fine selections will surely delight your taste buds. Pros: delicious food more

Five Stars for Gordo's 3/13/2009

Our family loves Gordo?s. The atmosphere is cozy and the food is delicious. We have always been served in a timely manner and with great care. My favorites are the Greek salad, The Great White Pizza, and the mouthwatering steak. This restaurant gets five stars! Pros: Extravagent Dining Cons: Absolutely none more

Fantastic!! 3/13/2009

I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal at Gordo's. We live in Fort Worth, so whenever we make it out to Gordo's we always order extra to take home. The house salad dressing is the best I have ever had the opportunity to try. Their Greek salad is incredible and the pizza is fantastic. You can never go wrong ordering the specials, either. I am so glad they have re-opened!! Pros: Best House Salad Dressing and Pizza Cons: It is so far away from us. more

great food and service for the money! 3/12/2009

We recently went to Gordos for dinner with my brother and sister-in law in Dallas (we are from Fort Worth). They recommended it as a decent place to go. We were so pleasantly surprised to find this little gem. The food was GREAT, and Ivan was one of the BEST waiters we have ever had at any restaurant...he was attentive and fun. I had the Chicken Artichoke, and my wife had the Rainbow Trout Almondine. Both were really tasty and perfectly cooked. My in-laws had a Gourmet Combo Pizza that they shared. GREAT VALUE, GREAT TIME and GREAT TASTE. Try it, you'll like it! Pros: good food, service, value Cons: I am in Fort Worth and Gordos is in Dallas!!! more

Hooray for the return of Gordo's in Dallas 3/12/2009

I was so happy to find out that Gordo's is back. This place has always been our special little place. The management and staff make you feel like family...brings a song to mind, ""where everybody knows your name..."" Anyway, this is our go-to place for ""girls-night-out"". This is a great place to relax...beautiful new bar, complete with lounge area for a more intimate feel! And the bartenders are the best! Bruce & Ivan will definately take care of you! Oh, and the food, I almost forgot...DELICIOUS! I have had anything from pizza to seafood pasta...and I have always been happy with my selection! The salads are so fresh, none of that cheapo iceberg...and the house dressing...awesome! Just go...you will NOT be disapointed! Pros: Drink specials, happy hour, ambiance, service, staff, food more

Fantastic Steak and pizza 1/12/2009

We went to Gordos last night in Highland Park. This Italian Restaurant had the most amazing Pizza and Steaks! It was a great solution to the difference in taste my husband and I have. I always want pizza and italian food and he is a meat and potato man. The atmosphere was really nice, fantastic service and the owner told me if I told other people about my experience on Citysearch, he would give me 20% of my next meal. Pretty good! So if you are looking for a great italian reataurant AND steakhouse, this is a fantastic alternative to choosing one, in Highland Park. Pros: Service , value more

My New favorite 12/27/2008

This itelian restaurant has been around for over 50 years and my grandmother just introduced me to it. They moved from Lovers lane over into Highland park about 6 months ago. I think alot of people think gordos in dallas went away instead of moving, so she was happy to rediscover their italian cuisine again. I tried the sasauge and peppers, the chopped salad and pizza. All were excellent! The service is warm and the bar is pretty large. The owner said they have football parties int he state of the art multimedia set ups in the private rooms and in the bar. It looks like the old dog CAn learn new tricks. go see the new and improved gordo's in highland park dallas. It too will be your new italian restaurant that you will tell your friends about. Pros: New interior with the same traditional food Cons: parking is a block away, but lots of it more
