I recently stopped by Glens Falls Toyota to price vehicles. I was merely trying to price a vehicle and see what sort of a deal I might be able to get. I was greeted by one sales person who gave me some limited info on pricing and the usual b.s. , ""we don't make any money on these"" and ""not much room to deal"", blah,blah blah. This I expect. After picking a vehicle I thought I might be interested in, I went inside where I was confronted by another sales person. I told her what car I was interested in. She disappears. Back to take my name. Disappears again. I ask about any incentives, deals,etc. being offered. She disappears again and this time comes back with the this time with the sales manager. He introduces himself and bluntly tells me that sticker price is what I would pay. Fair enough. I inquire about the C.A.R.S program that they are advertising with an old truck in front of the store. I inform him I would be interested in trading my vehicle. He started in on the rules of the program, said most don't qualify and so on. This is the fourth dealer I had been to and at each and every one of them the vehicle has more than met the requirements. I was just trying to get some numbers here. He rudely told me that he can give me numbers all day long, but unless I produced the truck and they checked the vehicle all over,(""chances are the vehicle probably had the motor swapped"") , He wasn't going to waste his time. All I needed to here. I suggested he wasn't interested in my business and he basically implied that he wasn't. I went back to the dealer where I will be purchasing my new car, and the sales man said he would be sending Toyota a thank you note for once again steering customers his way. He then told me that he has a friend and fellow salesperson at this particular dealer.
This person informed him that the owners of Glens Falls Toyota made it clear to them that making it difficult for any customer interested in the C.A.R.S. program is encouraged. Screw you Toyota. I was paying cash!
