Editorial review from Citysearch 12/14/2013

The Worst... I have read the reviews and can say without hesitation.. They are 100% accurate and honest. It's a shame that in the town of Glen Cove there is a place like this. Section 8, Welfare cases make up nearly 98% of the population. There are Roaches everywhere!! Day and night! I spent hundreds of dollars on roach control to no avail! The exterminator comes once a month and basically sprays what has to be KOOLAID.. Because afterwards, they come out even more. No matter how well you keep your apartment clean and tidy.. These disgusting insects continue. The management is totally useless.. The comments about cigarette smoke, sexual harassment and such are True! Not professionally run.. Sneaky tactics to get you to sign a renewal. Good luck trying to find parking.. There are cars that DO NOT belong there simply because their owners are mooching off of relatives and friends who are on government assistance and who Are NOT Lease holders themselves! . The building is always dirty.. They are understaffed and even if you try to go above and beyond by cleaning the laundry rooms / common areas yourself.. There is no change. Lobby, filthy.. The ""garden fountain"" is filthy and gross.. The floors in common areas are seldom vacuumed.. People leave trash outside the chutes spilling their garbage and food scraps as well. Beer bottles, cans and discarded fast food bags greet you every morning as you leave for work. The parking lot is full even throughout the day because most of the tenants don't work! THAT's apparently OUR job.. To work to pay crazy taxes so they can sit on their asses smoking cigarettes, doing/ selling drugs.. Acting crazy etc. there is definitely a strong drug presence there that the police know about and receive complaints about yet do NOTHING. The building has signs around it saying ""No Smoking"" but the smoking goes on and starts at the leasing/""ransom"" office with the "" manager"" leading the ""2 pack a day"" crowd. The stress is real in that they are overcharging for a ghetto drug and roach/ rodent infested hole.. The rent does go up, I guess that you have to pay even more for extra roaches if you renew. Some people have dogs as others are told ""NO DOGS ALLOWED"" which is BS. If you like the drama of tenants having brawls where the police have to be called bc a bf and gf are going at it in the parking lot if Not in their apartment or the hideous sounds of some drunk puking his brains out in the lot- By all means sign up right away! The manager does nothing to reign in this ghetto circus.. He's actually a major player in and the basic root of the whole problem. Snow and ice are not removed well at all.. If you fall, they will just laugh and do NOTHING to remedy the ice. Bottom line- Drug den? Hell Yes! Prostitution and weed/ coke parties happening? Hell Yes! Filthy surroundings? Hell Yes! Will you make it your #1 priority to get the Hell Out of there if you ended up leasing there? HELL YES INDEED! more

Should be called Ghetto Arms 4/21/2012

Well where to start.I wouldn't recommend this place to a roach. The manager Juan is a a-hole rotten prick. The place is a drug den. It's a known hot spot to get drugs in town.If you're a woman be warned and mind your man. There's a druggie wh0re named Camille C. in her late 40's that lives there. Her doors like her private parts =revolving.I have seen many different men come out of there daily and she's known in town.So just a warning I think prostitution's also in effect there. The place is not a good spot to raise kids.As previous reviewers said take heed. more

SEXUAL HARASSMENT BY MANAGER (NOT ALLOW. TO SAY HIS NAME) 11/22/2010

SEXUAL HARASSMENT BY MANAGER (NOT ALLOW. TO SAY HIS NAME; HINT: HE'S HISPANIC). HE SHOULD BE JAILED. DO NOT LIVE THERE!!!!!!!! When you have complaints, call the Main Off. in Freep. (516) 378-0166 :ARTHUR MOTT. I got the # for CODE ENFORCEMENT yesterday to help people: (516) 320-7871 + (516) 676-2000. Get out like we did or DON'T GO!.Everyone should speak up and not be afraid to spread the word about this horrible place. I am a former tenant. I am lucky to say that my family and I left this hellhole a while ago. According to everyone that you talk to, the main Bldg. Manager is a Cocaine addict. After dealing with him at least once, this will be confirmed as true. He acted strange and lied a lot. My husband dealt with him most of the time. Management smoked in the office and you could smell the cigarette smoke everywhere; even while waiting for the elevator. There was a time that you would smell and see DOG FECES and urine in the hallway.\r THE MANAGER SITS IN HIS OFFICE LOOKING AT MULTIPLE SCENES ON THE CAMERA. When he sees a woman going by, he rushes up to try to encounter the woman and chat her up. YUCK! I lived on an upper floor and experienced this and my suspicions were confirmed by a very reliable source. Believe me ladies, when you 'run into' him, it is not by coincidence. HE STALKS. He is old, UGLY, lazy and reeks of cig. smoke. Look out for the safety of your wives, sisters, daughters, etc..There are roaches everywhere. Once a mth., the exterminator would come by spraying what one would have to assume, is a liquid that is not very safe; it smelled very bad and left us with headaches. If you walk to the laundry room there are roaches on the floor and the walls. There are mice everywhere. You even hear them squeaking and running in the tile ceiling. I heard complaints about other tenants playing very loud music. Management does very little to stop this. You have to BEG to get the HEAT turned on in your apartment. The apt. was very poorly insulated and we had to suffer through almost an entire Fall and Winter with NO HEAT!! I also suspected that someone (you KNOW who I mean) entered our apt. while we were gone. They have keys and you should be able to trust these people, but you can't. Most of them look and act like criminals. You leave to go to work and worry about being robbed by the people in charge or you stay at home and feel unsafe.\r My husband could not wait to get us out of there. Our first lease was for two years. They raised the rent with every lease renewal. Speak to anyone who is not on welfare, they will tell you the same thing: the rent goes up and up and the living conditions get worse. The workers walk along the back of the building and peep into your apt..There are drug dealers in the bldg.. Word is that the Manager bought his drugs from a former tenant and who knows who else. I talked with many other tenants and the stories are consistent. The bldg. workers do horrible repair jobs. They always had to re-do everything. I thought that it was just a ploy to have an excuse to go into your apartment to ""finish the job"" when the tenant was not at home. Very disturbing! They are probably underpaid too. One worker in particular is just as creepy as the Manager. The TROLL Building Super was creepy and very rude and answered his door only when he felt like it- no help in an emergency. The 2nd Troll that worked 1 day per wk. spoke very loudly all the time. When there's snow and ice on the ground, you have to pray not to fall. God forbid someone that works for the bldg. should wake up a little earlier and clear away the ice and snow. They do a shoddy job of cleaning and leave the rest of the job to the sun and rain. Everything would re-freeze and become even more dangerous.\r The only person that would be able to help us a little with anything was JOHN. Unfortunately, he did not work more than 1 - 2 days per wk. for the most. Enough said.\r more

Renter Beware!!! 10/20/2010

Now the newest from Glen Arms, aka Juan and Joe at the central office, is one month free and reduced rate. The free rent is the last month of the lease and should you be insane enough to renew, the renewal cost is based on the monthly fee. Because this building accepts Section 8, low cost housing paid by the feds, the rate increase is regulated and was 4%. Some residents pay $75 per month while others pay $1,100 for the same size apt. \r \r The free one month's rent is, of course, to get the apts. rented which at first glance can suck you in. When first shown, the apt. I rented was clean and somewhat comfortable. Little did I know that the building was infected with roaches, mice, drugs, and drug dealers. The building is central in Nassau County to illegal drug distribution. \r \r The building violates the smoking code, smoke is everywhere in the building. Many units in the building are cold during winter and during summer the building is suffocating. Building ventilation is so poor that if you're not smelling the smoke you'll get the cooking odors, most of which are not pleasant.\r \r One evening I arrived to find the headlines of police cars shining into the front doors of the building. I got to my apt. and stayed locked in. The dog problems are another can of worms. Sometimes they allow dogs, it depends on whether they like you or you pay enough.\r \r As to rent payment, if you are late, management immediately sends you court papers for possible eviction. Tenants must lose a day of work to go to court only to end up paying the rent with a late fee. Sixty days prior to lease renewal, you will receive a letter that threatens to evict you if you don't sign a new lease. Beware! You do not have to sign that document, your lease is in effect until it expires and no one can evict you. This is management scaring you to renew your lease and if you decide not to stay they let you go but keep your deposit. They want to keep your deposit at any cost. \r \r Living at this building was a nightmare. All the bad reviews you read online are true. Avoid the problems before they begin, do not visit, consider, or move into this building. more

Had to take them to court to get deposit back 8/17/2010

We lived there 1 Year, after leaving the apartment we got a letter saying that we left the apartment clean and in good conditions. but waited and waited until I got tired so I took them to small claims court (had to wait 7 weeks), they didnt showed up there, so the judge gave us 100% of the money we claimed, then had to wait 5 more weeks (time giving by the court to them) and at the last day of all this ordeal got the check from this people. We've heard that they keep doing this to all tenants leaving the building. Juan the manager is a Jerk, Maintenance people is good and honest but they are overloaded and understaffed. We had to call the police in several times because they were people on the roof doing drugs and sex. Parking is just horrible 1 car per apartment if more had to pay 150 a month extra or park across the street next to the movie theaters. more
