Worst Night Out possible 3/9/2007

The security team makes it impossible for you to have any fun. If you look at someone from across the bar wrong, they ask you to go outside until you've cooled down. If someone is scream obsenities at you, but they're buddies with one of the hostess, it is your fault. There is no reason that I would ever intentionally go back to this overpriced palace of over aged hipsters thinking that they can dance when really it looks like they are going to need a hip replacement by the end of the night. The perfect place to lose your buzz.. Pros: Big Cons: Everything else more

Not worth your time or money 12/2/2006

I checked this place out for the first time on Saturday night and was not even remotely impressed. First of all, there is a $10 cover which is rediculous especially for a club that is not even in the heart of Dallas. But the main thing that turned me off to this club was the employees, namely the security. They were terribly rude and treated the customers like trash. I will never return to this club due to the disrespectful staff and horrible customer service. Basically, I would recommend every club in Uptown over this club, and they are free and in a much better location. I strongly discourage anyone from checking out this club. You will just be wasting your time and money. Pros: good music Cons: rude employee staff; horrible customer service more

Cool place to check out 10/23/2006

Stopped off here on opening night. The place looks nice, though not too fond of the layout. Seems too much like a theatre at first but, the patios are nice and look over the lake. Seemed mostly like hotel guests and business men will frequent this place. Live music is good but not the typical dance music you'll here in a club. This is more for everyone so no specific genre like hip hop or techno. Good place to go with a date but, not if you're looking for a "true club". Drinks are what you'd expect at a big place ($12 for long island, $5.50 for beer which is a bit much). Wait staff was good for the most part. Bought some cigars but, the server who got them for us was a bit snotty. Pros: nice view outside, large dance floor Cons: ok dancing music, higher than avg drink prices. more

grapevine's hot spot 10/23/2006

Everyone needs to check out the Glass Cactus! My wife and I have been there more than once. It's a cool club for a lot of reasons. One time, we went after we both got off of work, around 7. Before the band starts, there's no cover. We went outside on the deck (which is huge) and sat in one of their two-person covered chaise lounges, watching the sun set over the lake. It was a truly amazing sight. That night, we had a bottle of wine and some of their food, and even though it all looked really good, we decided on the mini Kobe burgers and shrimp flatbread pizza. They were to die for. We also went on a Saturday night, and that was really a nightclub experience. The audio system sounds really good, and the lighting on the dance floor really gets you in the mood to boogie! All the bartenders were very nice and very skilled (I saw some bottles flying through the air) and our cocktail waitress was very friendly and knowledgable of the menu. It's a great club that caters to a lot of groups of people. Pros: valet service, service, food more

Owner Message
  • Elevating the area's nightclub scene to world-class status. Creating a true hot spot where high-profile patrons can eat, drink and dance in simmering, sumptuous style. Oh yeah, and collecting the largest variety of tequilas in Texas. Yeah, we've got 'em. Unless you've been in a coma since September 20th, you probably have heard about my nightly live music and hot live groups. I serve up everything from country to blues to rock n' roll - all coming at you via state-of-the-art sound, lighting and video systems. If you think you understand what it's like to be a part of the pulsating rhythm of a Glass Cactus night, think again. It's an experience you're not likely to find elsewhere.
Did I mention the 13,000 square feet of outdoor lake-front patios, 1,200 foot dance floor, unique, signature bars and state-of-the-art sound, lighting and video systems. And you want to watch a movie...why?

Editorial
  • In Short
With its stone portico entrance and phalanx of parking attendants, bouncers, and doormen, Glass Cactus creates an imposing presence in an otherwise-isolated patch of prairie. The scale is so grand as to be overwhelming, with 39,000 square feet total, including two floors and five bars. The interior boasts the same surreal decor as the nearby Gaylord Texan Resort. The clientele consists of guests of the hotel, as well as locals looking for some live music.
