Gino's

Gino's: A family restaurant of sorts, prices: Okay for what you get, steaks (Painted Hills meat is the best), wine list, very detailed a little french, a lot italian. This yeah it's what your looking for: comfortable settings (Jeans or pants), wait staff could dress better (we like to see skin but not when where eating). I eat at Gino's when i don't expect very much, when i don't want to pay a whole lot and when i want to get a great bottle of wine without the doubling/thrippling of prices that large restaurants do. Take Gino's for what it's worth, don't try to make it something it's not=NW 21st. It's sellwood people, relax and enjoy life. If you have a teeny-tiny appetite and a lot more money than good sense, go try Gino's. We arrived 30 mins. past ""opening time"" but the waitress said she ""wasn't ready to seat people"" in restaurant so we took last booth in bar. We ordered ravioli. They couldn't have been fatter than a nickel and each time I lifted one to my mouth, I experienced the distinct odor of bleach??? Good flavor but an appetizer portion w/two small pieces of bread on plate. Experience = 1/2 hour. Iced tea (odd exotic flavor) and coffee (very good) is only $1.00. With the $3.00 tip, our bill was $30. When you can get a wonderful Italian meal at Ernesto's in Beaverton for even less money - which includes a choice of delicious salad and as much bread as you want, why waste money on this experience? I love gino's. I enjoy the Caesar Salad and the steamer clam appetizer. I think this is truly good italian food. The bar is fun and usually has fairly good service, unless they get to busy. more

Went early, so no wait. Waitstaff was friendly, but when my wife requested a substitution she was told that they couldn't do it (which seemed odd since she merely wanted a different sauce on her pasta). My guess is they didn't want to do it rather than they couldn't. Portions are generous but charging for extra bread seems excessive. Need more vegetarian selections (or be more accomodating with substitutions). Nice wine and beer selection. I was sorely disappointed. I will say that I love the bar side of the restaurant, but that's it. My number one gripe is I HATE HAVING TO BUY BREAD!!! Maybe I am cheap, but I think it should come with the meal. Everything was ala carte and too expensive when you totaled it up. The atmosphere and decor was mediocre and the food was decent, but forgettable. I don't know, maybe I was still mad about the bread...:) Pros: Bar, Decent drinks, Neighborhood Cons: POOR VALUE more
