Unlimited Isn't What It Seems 7/11/2011

Good: Being near the ocean. Only amusement park in town.. Bad: The word "unlimited" didn't mean that at all. Tricky word usuage to sell tickets for more money. Unlimited means one thing and unlimited means another. Advertise what you are really selling.. Improvements: Changing pricing signs to reflect what you are really buying.. Other: Very poor customer service techniques. Poor communications in selling tickets. Unlimited is not really unlimited in ticket sales. Fix the problem for the publics sake.. more

Great family fun 2/27/2006

If you're in to old roller coasters and boardwalk fun, then you should check out Belmont Park. It's been around for generations and has been remodeled and upgraded throughout the years. The only "real" attraction is the roller coaster and the fact that it's so close to the water. This is a great place to come with your family. Not only to walk along the beach but to ride the roller coaster. Parking can be a hassle during weekends and holidays. Everyone parks for the beach parking and not necessarily the coaster. more

ehhh...just a tourist trap 10/22/2005

the roller coaster really doesn't do it for me, plus it is expensive to ride. The shops in the area are okay, but still overpriced due to the tourist trap aspect to the area. Good luck finding any parking near by due to the crowed at the beach and the other shops/restaurants in the area. If you're not from SD I could see how this could be amusing. more

Amusement Park 9/9/2005

The amusent park at belmont park is expensive for the rides that you get. Some of the rides that are there change from time to time and they are not the bg fun rides worth three or four dollars per ride they are silly rides that are overpriced. They also have an arcade type room that is over priced once again. The food on the boardwalk at belmontpark is overpriced too. Parking is free, but since it is next to a beach, finding parking can be difficult at peak times (summers, evenings and weekends). I think there are other places that are a better value. more

A fun Wooden Coaster 9/8/2005

The Big Dipper at Belmont Park is certainly not a World Class Roller Coaster, but it is world Famous (it was featured on the intro to MTV's Summer Beach house when they filmed it in the summer of 2000 at Mission Bay). It's a fairly standard wooden coaster that costs about $4 per ride. Located at Belmont Park there is no admission to this park so check out the coaster before you get on. more

Nothing like a wood roller coaster! 8/20/2005

All you roller coaster aficionados already know this. While the ride is not long it is worth it. If you have never ridden a wood coaster you have to give it a shot, it's not just the ups and downs. It's the entire experience, the wood shaking, the noise...and the fear of it falling all apart. Well this coaster is very safe for all. There are amazing views from the top of the coaster; you can see all of mission and pacific beach. Fun time for all! more

Belmont Park 8/20/2005

Belmont Park offers only one rollercoaster - but it is a great one. The "Giant Dipper" is an awsome rollercoaster that delivers a punch for how old it is. Belmont Park also has many other smaller rides, but everything there is pay-per-ride. The only downside to this park is that it can cost quite a lot if you want to ride over and over. more

Necessary tourist trap 8/11/2005

Belmont park is like a modern version of the old-time beach boardwalk. They have an arcade where you can win prizes for getting tickets, a big landmark vintage rollercoaster, and tons of places to eat. They just opened the Flowrider which is like a wave pool for surfriders. Basically it is a neverending surf tube that you can surf until you wipe out. Also they have the Plunge which is a large indoor heated pool. During the summer they screen movies and you can be in the pool and watch them on the screen. Great for kids. more

Great ride! 8/10/2005

Belmont Park roller coaster is a great ride. Short like every other ride out there. Lines are usually not long unless it is during the weekend. During the weekend, you can expect to wait in line. Not that expensive either. It is a pretty feature that highlights our beach. It brings great people together. more

Belmont Park is a fun Boardwalk in San Diego! 8/7/2005

Belmont Park is a great place to hang out in the summer. They have it all - food, rides, games and entertainment. It is fun to hang out in a boardwalk type atmosphere, something you don't get a lot of in California. First thing you have to do is ride the Giant Dipper Rollercoaster. Other fun things to do are ride bumper cars, play in the arcade and swim at the indoor heated pool. And when you get hungry, check out Canes or the Windandsea Bar. Canes also has great live music! more

Old time fun 8/4/2005

This roller coaster is old but good. It is right near the water and has a great view at the top. They keep this coaster up to date so no worrying about damage from age. It is fun and a tradition in our family to take everyone in the summer while in our suits to ride it before we get in the water. I recommed it to anyone visiting San Diego. more

Fun to visit 8/1/2005

There is just something extremely exciting about riding a roller coaster right on the beach overlooking the Pacific Ocean. And, Belmont Park is a great place to do that! It doesn't cost you much to ride. There is a huge parking lot right next door, so as long as you visit on a day that is not a weekend during the summer, than you'll be fine. Lot's of fun! more

One of San Diego's greater landmarks 7/24/2005

I don't know why people don't like this place. This is what San diego is all about. Carefree experiences at beach while teaching a fatty piece of cotton candy. The attractions are mediocre but what do you expect from Belmont? It's not Santa Monica by any comparison. If you do choose go to to Belmont, you most rust the Giant Dipper, coolest coaster in San diego. Nothing to big or crazy but it's so fun. Then after you are done exploring the park, you can walk a few feet and hit the board walk for a nice stroll. A great place for the family. more
