Gentle Dentistry of Lancaster, PLLC

The first person I encounter at every visit to Gentile Dentistry of Lancaster is Amber, the receptionist. I have often been struck by her poise and eloquence. After working in several medical offices, I understand the importance of having the proper ""front end"" personnel representing a practice.\r At my first visit, I explained to Dr. Bartos and his hygienist, Melissa how, several years earler, I had gone to another dentist and had a root canal. I had foolishly bit into a Tootsie Roll less than a week afterwards when disaster had struck. My tooth was lodged in the candy. My dentist attempted to cement the tooth back in my mouth, but because the root of the tooth was destroyed, there was a great deal of pain when I tried biting down. \r My dental insurance only paid for one root canal every six years and dental implants were out of the question financially. I was very frustrated at that point I spent the next couple of years being too embarrassed to smile or putting my hand up over my mouth to hide the rather large gap the missing tooth had caused.\r Upon carefully examining my tooth structure, Dr. Bartos asked me ""how can we help you get your beautiful smile back""? We then discussed various options and decided that a bridge would be the best alternative.\r To his own admission, Dr. Bartos is a perfectionist. After sending my impressions back to the lab several times until the finished product was to his satisfaction, I now have the beautiful smile that I have always wanted.\r \ more

My recent experience with Dr. Bartos has made me never want to return to this practice. I have always taken care of my teeth and have never had any problems or cavities (and I am 37!). At my last routine checkup, Dr. Bartos and the hygenist diagnosed me with three cavities, pockets in my gums, and the beginnings of peridontal disease. They recommended a series of four different appointments to do a deep cleaning, scaling, antibiotic treatment, and the fillings. Since I opted to not take dental insurance this year, my bill was going to be in the neighborhood of $1500. I was upset but I believed them, since it hurt so much and made me bleed when they were ""measuring"" my gums. When I got home my husband argued with me about the plan and suggested that I get a second opinion. I reluctantly agreed and found a dentist that my chiropractor, who I have the utmost respect for, recommended. This dentist said I had a beautiful mouth and nothing to be concerned about! He said I did not have any cavities, just a few indentations that should be watched. They do not need to be filled! He did the same test to measure my gums and it did not hurt at all, and there was no bleeding! When I asked him about this, he said ""anyone can make your gums bleed if they want to."" He seemed genuinely disturbed when he read my chart from Gentle Dentistry. They are clearly just looking to make as much money as possible, and are willing to hurt patients to get it! What a horrible place! Avoid them at all costs! more

From my husband: WARNING: STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.\r \r My husband had been going to this office for about two years. Before his first appointment he had not been to the dentist in some time...however after going they told him there were many things wrong with his teeth and gums (totally understandable). He was told to do everything from using prescription mouthwash, to getting cavities filled. They also wanted him coming back every THREE MONTHS (co-pay after co-pay, charge after charge).\r \r More recently they told him his mouth was looking much better UNTIL his last appointment. \r \r The dentist was ""concerned"" with the amount of bleeding during his exam and told my husband they had narrowed down the cause...""LEUKEMIA OR DIABETES."" They said he needed to go to a doctor immediately, go BACK on the prescription mouthwash and have TWO MORE cavities filled.\r \r I had enough - if they had been seeing him every three months for the last two years, there should NOT have been so many problems. So he switched to my TRUSTED dentist. Well guess what? NO PROBLEMS with his mouth at all. Everything looked normal, NO cavities, NO gum issues.\r \r GENTLE DENTISTRY TOLD HIM HE HAD LEUKEMIA OR DIABETES with NO actual information to back it up. They were also trying to schedule him to do work on two cavities that DID NOT EXIST in addition to making him pay more for the special mouthwash, etc.\r \r We were also told by my trusted dentist that they were charging us for EXTRA things that SHOULD ALREADY BE included in a regular examination, like cancer screening, etc.\r \r DO NOT LET THIS COMPANY TAKE YOUR MONEY OR LIE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH TO GET MONEY FROM YOU OR YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY.\r \r We will be seeking legal action. more

This was my first time at this location and I was pleasantly surprised at the staff and how friendly and professional everyone was and looking forward to a new and long lasting relationship with this dentist office. I would highly recommend this office to anyone needing any dentist work!,,, more

I had a great experience at all my visits at Gentle Dentistry. Jen is the best at cleaning and everyone is very friendly. had my second temporary crown put in by Dr. Bartos today, Both times I had a great experience. I will be getting my permanent crowns in a few weeks. I did not feel any pain and the customer service was amazing. I felt comfortable and relaxed. I would recommend Gentle Dentistry to everyone. I have a few bad experiences with dentists in the past and was looking for a dentist is the southtowns and I am very pleased and look forward to a long relationship and a great smile. Gentle Denstistry has awesome service, friendly staff and they make everything so easy and simple! I have been to many other dentist offices, but this one is so welcoming and easy that I have made Gentle MY dental proffesionals. I have never had a bad experience with them because there standard of dental care is so high they wont allow you to walk out without a brand new, beautiful smile on your face! As an employee I was always telling patients about how gentle the staff are. Then shortly after starting a couple of years ago I had the first of many gentle cleanings. At my last dentist whom I had gone to as a kid, I always experienced pain during my cleanings and bleeding gums, which made me not want to go. We try to treat our Patients like our extended family coming for a visit. I have worked with some great doctors at this practice. They are all very gentle and care about the patients needs.
