\r The experience was fabulous from the moment we entered to the time we left. We sat out on the deck which was just perfect for a warm night. Everyone ordered different items ...

I recently had a business trip to the charming village of Lake Oswego, a bit south of Portland, ORE. I always try to find French cuisine on my travels and used CitySearch to find...

Cozy, quaint, romantic... and delicious. 5/2/2007

Recently tried this new wonderful establishment. Very cozy, quaint, and romantic. Sitting on their balcony for the summer and happy hour is perfect. The waitstaff are very kind and accomodating. They care so much about the food and the service, almost to a fault! The owner is such a gem, and the chef came out to personally talk to us to make sure we enjoyed our meal. The food is great and the service makes it better. more

Teriffic place! 4/6/2007

I ate there last weekend and really enjoyed it. The chef sent out a neat little treat to tease my palate prior to dinner. I had an amazing veal dish with the perfect Oregon Pinot. The atmosphere is very charming. Beautiful views from the patio (we ate inside) and the music was perfect. We were told the Chef had an extensive music background and it showed. The owner/ host was so warm and friendly, I felt like family. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and eager to please. Lots of attention to detail here without being pretentious. Great restaurant. I'll definitely be back on my next visit to Portland. Pros: Atmosphere, food, felt very at home. more

I almost hate to write a review because then everyone will know my new favorite restaurant! 3/11/2007

My husband and I had dinner at Genia's for the first time, and it was spectacular from the delicious bread (hot from the oven) to the Spanish coffee! We will be dining there again soon. The chef treated us to a delightful amuse bouche and the owner ended it with a fun little dessert wine treat. I highly recommend it and am delighted to have another fine dining establishment close to home. Pros: Ambience, menu more

Great dining experience 2/28/2007

I recently dined at Genia's from a reccomendation of a friend living in Portland. I was visiting from New York and was looking for a special place to dine outside of the downtown area of Portland. Pros: I love the fact that the restaurant was in an old house. Very warm and comforable. Great menu. more

a wonderful date! 2/10/2007

my boyfriend and i went here for our valentines date tonight. i think we beat the valentines rush because there were only 2 other groups there, but i could tell that this place could get much more crowded. because the food is excellent!! i had a pork loin with lentils, bacon and red cabbage- it was incredible! my boyfriend had the beef tenderloin which was worth being the most expensive dish on the menu. i also had the best cosmo i have had to date. the ambiance was wonderful, soft flattering lighting and neat separate seating rooms. i would also say the music selection left something to be desired, but we were talking the whole time, so we didn't really care. our waiter was attentive and helpful. and we used the 10% off coupon that we got off this website, which was helpful because this restaurant is a little out of the college student budget. but it is a place that we would go to again on a special occasion. Pros: ambience, FOOD!, service more

Unique 10/26/2006

The menu was truly surprising. And it changes everyday. How does he come up with amazing sensations as vast as Kobe beef 3 different ways to the fried oysters just to top it again the next day with something new and exciting? The waiter as well with his great knowledge of mixology. The cocktail menu has everything from mojitos to a esspresso and chocolate martini as well as a nice selection of scotch. The wine menu could be better, but both the waiter and the chef assured us it would be dramatically changing soon. I cant wait to take my friends and fam there next time I get the chance. Pros: Even the owner is there getting to know her customers. Cons: The music leaves something to be desired. more

A hidden jewel! 10/24/2006

New French chef combines dishes that you don't see everyday (venison, elk, rabbit, kobe beef) with great presentations. I've had most things on the menu and each is cooked perfectly with comlimentary side dishes. Please try some of the unique desserts. The menu changes daily so every night is a new experience. The wine list is a bit to be desired, but the new Maitre'D (Bobby) and the Chef are currently revamping the wine menu to include botique French, Spanish ands local wines wines at a reasonable price. Great special martinis and cocktails.\r \r The owner Beate (pronounced Biata) is a sweetheart.. Pros: Great service, ambience, chef comes out and listens to likes and dislikes Cons: Stairs, not handicap friendly more

Great new restaurant choice in L.O. 9/11/2006

My husband and I went to Genia's last Sunday night (9/10/06), it was superb. The renovation is beautiful (this is located in the former Amadeus L.O. location) and we ate on the outside balcony patio. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the food was fantastic. 5 star dining at 3 star prices. I highly recommend! more

GREAT new restaurant 5/2/2006

I was invited to a reception here before opening and was impressed by the quality of food and the new lovely decor. The owners are warm and inviting, and the food presented that night was spectacular. I came back on the weekend with friends, and was even more wowwed by the chef..all 4 of our entrees were exquisite, although i really reccommend the 3 types of duck dish or the osso bucco that fell off the shank into a creamy risotto...heavenly. They also have a incredible wine selection, both by glass and bottle which we appreciate. The service again was wonderful. Its nice to have a family owned and run restaurant in town that caters to both the casual and fine diners! Good going and great success to this terrific new restaurant...we WILL be back soon! Pros: Clean, warm, inviting, Patio seating, food was heavenly! more
