I had never been to a Mongolian Barbecue place, so I can't compare this to anything, but I really have to say that I love this restaurant. I like that I can create my meal, but don't have to cook it. I can put exactly how much of each kind of meat in my bowl, and I don't have to pick out the veggies I don't like. If you have never been to Genghis Grill, it's an experience. I don't know that younger children would like it, but I haven't taken my 9 year old, so I don't know that for sure.
The premise is that they have what looks like a mini salad bar, but it's got raw meats and veggies on it. You create your own dish (they have suggestions, but you can make it however you want) by adding meat, seafood and veggies. Then you bring that and whatever sauce you'd like to the grill, choose a starch (I love the Udon noodles), and they cook it in front of you. For a treat, leave a tip.
The sauce is high in sodium, but if you are looking for a really healthy meal, it's meat and veggies at their most basic form. Also, fill your bowl until it is stuffed, when it cooks, it cooks down. You can purchase either a one trip or unlimited. If you stuff your bowl the first time, that is usually plenty. It sounds like being a pig, but the stuff really does cook way down. Enjoy!
