mmm chocolate 3/25/2006

Garden's candies makes some really delicious chocolate. At the Tyrone store you get the freshest that you can buy. The peanut butter meltaways are well known for being truly amazing. They offer many different chocolate confections though, including the unusual chocolate covered popcorn. This store also has penny type candy, a little bit of history about the company and a small ice cream parlor at the back. Definately worth stopping in. more

A Fun Stop During Your Trip to Tyrone 3/24/2006

Gardner's Candies isn't hard to find in Tyrone. If you are driving on I-99, take the downtown Tyrone exit and spend a few minutes exploring. The front of the store has display cases and shelves filled with specialty chocolates that are made locally-- in a factory just on the other side of town. There is a small room off of the main store front that is a penny candy shop. With candy starting at just one cent, it's fun to fill a bag with some candy that you remember from when you were a kid. The middle section of the store is a small museum that celebrates the company's history with chocolate making pictures and artifacts. The back of the store is an ice cream shop with tables and plenty of ice cream options. more

Fresh delicious assorted chocolates sold by the pound you can make up entirely individual chocolate gift boxes. Plus a penny candy store that is a blast from the past with a wonderful antique candy case ..and yes the candy is actually a penny! And for even more nostalgic fun wander back to the candy museum where you can look at many pieces of candy memorabilia, and learn some fascinating facts about the history of candy making. Then to top the trip off there is an ice cream parlor featuring Gardner’s wonderfully creamy ice cream concoctions. It is delightful place for the kid in all of us. more
