The only place I'll go to eat Greek. The food is great, the staff is friendly. I find myself heading over just for some rice...:)

Very Good Greek Restaurant 4/5/2010

Very nice environment with friendly service. We ordered the sampler platter, the gyro with lamb, and the pastitsio. The Pastitsio was soo good. It had a bit of a sweet flavor which i loved. On the sampler platter, the pita bread was very fresh. It was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The dolmades were very good . If you don't like lemon, then don't order. The gyro was also very good. The hummus was alright but it could have used a little bit more flavor. Other than that it was a good experience and i will go there again. Pros: Pastitsio was Crazy Good! Cons: Hummus needed a little more flavor. more

Greek Fast Food 9/4/2008

This is a wonderful Greek restaurant with an extensive menu. They have everything from hamburgers to stuffed grape leaves. This place is far from where I live, but every time I am in the area I am sure to stop. more

Don't expect much from ""fast food"" greek style here! 8/1/2008

The atmosphere and decorations are very nice. The staff was very friendly and courteous. I had the pleasure of living for about seven years in Greece serving in the U.S. Military and enjoyed their cuisine. I know it is hard to get true Greek ingredients but they are some decent products available. I ordered the souvlaki with pita and found the meet over seasoned, significantly detracting from the meal. The tzatziki sauce was well below can get better at Trader Joe's. All fairness, it is tough to get the correct type of yogurt in the U.S. for tzatziki. I have learned to drain vanilla yogurt through cheese cloth to get closer to the consistency you can find in Greece...the tzatziki at this establishment is way below par. The greek salad was another disappointment. Ken's or Kraft makes a better greek salad dressing that I tasted on this salad. Perhaps my sites were set too high since I was hoping to relive a piece of the Greece I remembered...this did ot come even close. If I ever went back to give them a second chance, I would try a gyro pita, moussaka, or pastitsio with my fingers crossed this would better. Pros: Ambience Cons: food quality more

Best Greek Salad in Tucson! 5/21/2008

I absolutely love the Greek salads here and the lemony rice can't be beat anywhere. George is a hoot and the service has always been friendly and fast. The Greek vinaigrette dressing is the best and the Greek salad always has cukes, tomatoes, onion, pepperocini, olives and feta - it's a wonderful classic! Accompanied by pita and cool tzatziki, it makes a fabulous meal. The chicken souvlaki has a great herb rub but eating it off a skewer or trying to cut it off is a bit of a chore. The gyro meat is sliced in big circles which is disappointing to me because I love the traditional seared strips sliced off a vertical rotisserie but my boyfriend swears up and down that he loves Fronimo's gyro the best. Pros: Food, Service, Ambience more

not what you'd expect 1/24/2008

I feel bad writing a bad review...but honestly, we had to stop at McDonalds on the way home because the food was just bad. I love greek food and this was a real disappointment. The hummus was terrible- much worse than the pre-made grocery store versions, and the taboule was dry and bland. The pita was like oily white bread, but at least you could swallow that. My friend had a gryo and that wasn't too terrible, but the tzaziki sauce was also pretty poor. If you want to stand on line and order french fries, go here- otherwise, this is really not what you'd expect when seeking a good greek restaurant. My apologies to those who own this restaurant, but you really need some culinary lessons! more

I have had Fronimo's cater several functions and they are 1) professional 2) reasonable 3) punctual 4) serve the food hot and fresh more

Greek Hamburgers 12/16/2007

I don't know how they do it, but they make the best Greek Hamburgers. The menu has all the traditional dishes and the prices are great. You can even call in your order to be picked up. more

Not What I Expected 11/3/2006

Medium Sized Place Looks Like it used to be a pizza joint. Was expecting to be seated and given a menu, insted had to satnd at a counter and order off a billboard menu like i was at mcdonalds. that any anyplace thats gonna serve wine in a nice glace shouldn't serve thier food on disposable plates. food was ok, greek dressing tasted more like vinager than a dressing. pita was greasy and salads was small (mostly lettuce with a tomato slice and a cuke slice). i'm definitely not going there again Cons: burger king style service more

Best greek food in town 7/30/2006

Greek food at its best! This is a small family owned restaurant that serves authentic greek cuisine. They have a wide selection and the owners are friendly. Great atmosphere to dine in as well. more

Great Greek! 12/12/2005

For starters the café is extremely clean. I didn't see one crumb on the floor and the tables were spotless...bathroom was clean too! The decor is classic Greek: Grape vines and mosaic tiles. It's very spacious, very pretty. On the menu, it's a mixture of Greek and American fare. I chose the Falafel sandwich with a sideorder of Baklava. The pita bread was quite large and stuffed with falafel, tomatos, onions, lettuce and was first-rate and the Baklava was, as it should be: sticky and sweet..heavenly! Service was friendly and they give you plenty of napkins, that's usually a problem with many places! Now for the prices..inexpensive! The falafel was only $4.95 and the Baklava at $1.75.. more

Pleasant new location 7/2/2005

Since moving to their new, larger location, Fronimos is very pleasant to visit, My son loves the Greek selections but I prefer their excellent cheesburger and onion rings! Even though we've looked at them dozens of times, we like to stop every time we go and look at the photos of Greek places and people on the walls, and we also enjoy the Greek music that's always playing. The owner is very friendly and makes us feel like he just loves sharing his restaurant with everyone! PROS: Spacious and pleasant dining area CONS: None! more

Owner Message

  • George was born and raised on the beautiful island of Crete, Greece. At 26, he immigrated to America and settled in Salt Lake City, Utah. There he managed, and eventually owned, three American restaurants. He also met his future wife, Tracy, who was born and raised in Salt Lake City and was trained as a cook in the Army.

George and Tracy were married in George's village and eventually returned to Crete to live for four years. There, Tracy was also trained in the villages to cook the delicious foods of Greece. They returned to Tucson this time to open an authentic Greek restaurant with a little twist; make the food fresh, fast and inexpensive!
