Frida's is one of those wonderful hole-in-the-wall places that are somewhat hard to find but are worth the effort. A friend of mine read about it in an article in the Post-Intelligencer, and we decided to try it out. It's been one of my favourite Mexican restaurants ever since.
The decor is fun and funky, and prominently features prints of works by the famous Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo. The atmosphere is welcoming and vibrant, but I've never found it too noisy to carry on a conversation.
The food is always fresh, and it strikes me as very authentically Mexican. "Like Water of Chocolate" usually comes to mind as I'm browsing the menu, which is full of stories about Frida and her family.
