On 6/30 I went in for a simple oil change and service light reminder reset. This is NOT the check engine light, it is a service reminder light that comes on about every 5000 miles to remind the owner to change the oil. \r

I have had this service performed at other dealers with an oil change no problem. Steven Munoz asks how he could help me and I told him just an oil change and service reminder light reset. Steven then proceeds to lie and try and rip me off right to my face telling me point blank 'it is ILLEGAL to reset the service light without performing service and AGAINST THE LAW'. \r

I reiterated that this is NOT the check engine light, the oil change reminder light that comes on every 5000 miles. In fact because Volvo found it annoying to customers, after 1998 there is a ignition/tripometer sequence where the CUSTOMER can reset it themselves. Steven Munoz / Fremont Volvo Motorcars tried to have me believe that I had to pay for some expensive service package my car DID NOT NEED and that it was ILLEGAL and against the law if I didn't and had the service light reset basically holding the service / oil change reminder light hostage. \r

As further evidence that these claims were completely untrue I additionally have part of a scanned invoice reflecting the service performed elsewhere no proble shortly after. I rarely complain but these guys are sleazy and there are other negative complaints online saying that they are as well. This kind of dishonesty and trying to lie about the laws and what is legal to try and scam/force people into an uncessary service package is one of the most dishonest tactics I've seen. BTW my vehicle has had the following within the last 10K much of which I've done myself, and they didn't even bother to ask or check: OEM cap, rotor, plugs, wires, timing belt and pulleys, all fluids, battery, PCV breather box, seperator, vacuum lines, fuel injection cleaning, intake decarbonization, inner and outer tie rods, 4 wheel alignment, brakes, tires and I could go on. The vehicle doesn't leak a drop, no clunks or anything. Again they didn't even care if the car actually needed it they were trying to force me into some expensive service package whether my vehicle actually needed it or not lying about resetting the oil change reminder light claiming it was ILLEGAL AND AGAINST THE LAW if they didn't. \r

I am EXTREMELY concerned that others have been and are being ripped off by this Fremont Volvo Jaguar Land Rover (all the same dealership and service area).
