I love Franko's. I have had places where the animals were not treated well. I had one groomer that clipped mine so short he was scabbed over. Not them. If I ever have a concern I tell them and we fix it right away. They have taught me a lot about cutting hair.. They are loving and sweet and they really know dogs. \r I have gone there for a long time and wouldn't go elsewhere. \r I feel really bad for the lady whose cat died.. but one time at the groomer wouldn't do that. I know it is so hard to lose a pet.. but something else had to happen. If they were really bad and you think they should be shut down why didn't you report it and get it investigated? \r I love the way they treat my dogs. more

Anyplace who is responsible for someone's pet dying after having an appointment at their place, should be shut down! I am referring to Jenn H. review. Sorry to hear about your loss Jenn. My pets are my family, so I understand how horrifying this experience must have been to you. To everyone reading this, let this be a lesson to you and DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS TO Franko's Dog & Cat Grooming! more

I sincerely wish there were a designation worse than Poor/Fair. I wish there were a “Horrifying” designation. I took my Persian cat to the groomer for the first time in his life of 9 years--I had always shaved him myself and he would always fight and kick—he has left more than a few scars on the people who would help me. I had a baby and hadn't had the time to shave my Persian for ~2 ½ months and decided to out the cash and just have him groomed professionally. I took him here and he returned to me with dirty ears, clipper burn and he acted very lethargic. I let him rest overnight but took him to work with me for observation the next day (I work with animals). While under observation he started breathing laboriously and then literally fell over dead. I called them to inform them of what happened: the person on the phone told me she was the owner, asked me how old the cat was and said she would speak to the groomer and ask if they had “noticed anything they thought was medically wrong.” I assured her there was NOTHING wrong with my cat when he was dropped off and that I would prefer she not contact me. She called me back anyway and said the groomer told her that the cat was fine but had a little redness on his skin, and that the groomer had the cage dryer on the “cool” setting. As a test I asked “Did he struggle or fight them at all?” She responded by saying “Oh no! He was perfectly behaved.” These heavy handed, irresponsible liars killed my beloved cat. The woman never even offered an apology. If you value your pets as part of your family: DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE! more

I take my Chihuahua mix for nail clipping and having her glands expressed. At $4, I consider that a great deal. (Because she is a short-hair, I bathe her myself.) She is a nervous little dog, but they are very gentle with her. Although she remains nervous, she is clearly more comfortable each time we leave. more

Saved my dog's life. 9/16/2010

The day before I left for a 3 week vacation My dog's regular groomer at Franko's noticed some subtle symptoms and reported them to me. I took my dog to the vet and by the next week he had emergency surgery to remove bladder stones. Had I been gone there would have been no one to see my dog got the care he needed as quickly as he needed it. I am very grateful they take the time to really know my dogs. We are loyal customers. more

Horrible! 12/28/2008

If you want an inexpensive dog groomer who will send your pets home with injuries take them to Franko's! We had been loyals for a few years when one of our two small dogs came home with a cut on his toe. We figured it had just been an accident so we continued to take the pups there, huge mistake! This last time after picking the two up from Franko's one had a black eye and the other had a gash on his face where they sliced off a mole. Sure, accidents happen, but there was no way that they didn't notice the injuries, both were VERY noticable! The mole had scabbed over and then was washed from the fur. The other had no visible white in his eye due to the black eye he recieved. That was the LAST time we will give them a chance to prove their respect and care for our dogs. Please for the safety of your dogs take them somewhere safe with a great reputation for good pet cuts and not just the inexpensive rate! Believe me you will get what you pay for at Franko's! Cheap cuts that come with a free downgrade of injuries and fear for your beloved pet! Pros: CHEAP! Cons: Injuries for your pets! more

Best for the price 7/31/2008

For probably twenty years I've known people taking their pets to Franko's. Never heard anything bad about them. Now I take my dog there, and I've always had a good experience. Very friendly staff, very affordable, and very convenient (never need an appointment). Definitely a no frills establishment, but when all you want is basic grooming Franko's is the best value in town.\r \r By the way, the previous rating about the cat dying sounds like a post hoc fallacy to me. How old and/or sick was the cat? Pros: Price, convenience, friendly Cons: Old building, smells like wet dog (duh) more

Great place, very friendly 6/29/2008

I took my dog ""Pearl"" here for the first time today. She is 55lbs, and a black lab basset hound mix. Normally I do my own grooming at a self service place, and was amazed when I found this place here. The people were very friendly, they listened to what i wanted even though it was just a bath, I had a few requests because of my pet's medical conditions, and they took care of her great. I don't know who wrote the previous review, but it made me nervous even though I know now I had nothing to be afraid of. The staff is another thing, I don't know about you, but i have been to 1 too many grooming places where everyone looks like a high school student, how much experience can they have?? This place was different everyone was 30 plus, which mean's they've probably been doing this for a while, which is really nice for a change. One more thing before I let you go here. the price. I don't know if ""cheap"" is the right word, as so much as practical is. my total was $12 for a bath, dry, brush out, and nails. I have paid as much as 30 at other places, and had better results here than I have other places. honestly. I think they are much more realistic than other places. they were great!!! Thank you so much. Pros: did exactly what I wanted. super nice staff. cute store Cons: I get lost in a paper bag, mapquest doesn't work for this one folks! more

AVOID THIS PLACE! 1/4/2008

Four of my friends took their pets there. One's cat died. The other two had dogs that were seriously injured. The last friend's dog, was somehow traumatized. He is terrified of this place! Pros: cheap if you get high off abuse Cons: injuries, deaths, they use poisonous flea dips. more
