HORRIBLE VET, AVOID AT ALL COSTS! 5/24/2011

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! BEWARE!!! We took our dog there for a checkup and grooming. He came out with an eye ulcer and radical charges for services and medicine. We took him to our family vet we hav eused for 30 years and he said FourPaws likely got shampoo in our dog's eye and that is what caused the ulcer. When I confronted them about it, the office manager, Susan, was very defensive and could come up with a reasonable excuse as to how the ulcer occured. I asked for the vet to call me, Dr. Smith. The vet never called. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! more

Fantastic Veterinarian and Great Staff! 1/30/2010

We first started going to Four Paws Animal Clinic in the summer of 2008 after a misdiagnosis and bad experience at a vet hospital in Raleigh. Dr. Melanie Smith was able to quickly diagnose our cat's illness and provide us with the medicine to treat it. In May of 2009 our cat took a turn for the worse and was diagnose with terminal cancer. In the end, Dr. Smith and her staff were so kind and caring, personally guiding us through the difficult task of letting our cat go. She and her knowledgeable staff have always been available whether by phone or email to help us out when we had trouble. Dr. Smith even sent a beautiful hand-written card after we had to put our cat to sleep. Pros: Caring, Compassionate & Honest more

Simply the best 5/14/2009

Can't say enough about the compassion and professionalism of all the people who work here. Dr. Smith is amazing. She takes the time to fully inform you of the issues. We had a dog with a terminal illness and the care was exceptional. more

Excellent vet and caring environment 11/26/2008

I'm not the type to sign in and write reviews for folks, but I've been so consistently impressed by the vet care I've encountered over the last several years with Four Paws that I felt the need to share this with our local Chapel Hill community. If you're seeking a knowledgeable animal healthcare professional, a courteous staff, reasonable medical costs, and a genuinely caring atmosphere, bring your pets to Dr. Smith and she and her colleagues will provide friendly help fast! Pros: Experienced staff, Knowledgeable professionals, Geniune love for pets! Cons: None more

Fantastic hospital/Kind Caring and Knowledable Staff 2/19/2008

Great experiences everytime that I have been there. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable. The hospital is very clean and nicely decorated. I find Dr. Melanie Smith to be one of the kindest veterinarians that I have ever met. I highly recommend their services to everybody in need of a good veterinary hospital. Pros: Great staff, good veterinarian, nice office Cons: None. more

Only good experiences for us, 8 years 12/27/2007

We've never had a negative experience at Four Paws, especially with the vet, Dr. Smith. In fact if you look at Dr. Smith under city search you will see high ratings from others.. We've brought many animals here. Yes, there are times when messages are relayed instead of being able to meet with the vet 1:1, but having worked at a vet office myself I understand the need to do that from time to time to try to keep on schedule, or catch up after emergencies (or else you have folks complaining about the wait). If the cause for my visit was urgent, I have ALWAYS been able to talk with the vet. Our pets don't even mind going here, so they must be pretty good with the animals too. more

Best vet I've seen 5/24/2007

Dr. Smith is absolutely great. She was friendly and caring, and spent a lot of time answering questions about our new dog. She gave him a complete examination, and was very knowledgeable. Four Paws itself is very clean and everyone who works there is friendly and helpful. I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else! Pros: Friendly, caring, professional Cons: None more

Very caring and professional 3/19/2007

Have used Four Paws for over 10 years and have never had the experiences mentioned in other posts. Dr. Terrell has always been 100% professional. She has always been very thorough in her examinations and treated my pets with love and respect. She has always addressed my questions and made a point of going over all pros and cons to any testing, procedures, etc. And I have never been asked to sit in the waiting room....which is a big deal considering that between myself and my great Dane there isn't much space left in the examination rooms for the staff! In addition, Dr. Terrell recently helped us let go of our elder Dane. She and the staff were amazingly supportive and cried just as many tears as we did. We can not thank them enough for the wonderful care they provide our pets. Pros: Very caring and professional more

Great vet, Great staff !! 2/28/2007

I have been to Four Paws over the last ten years with my pets. I have always been pleased with their veterinary care. They really do love animals! They certainly have helped me through many ups and downs. I love the personalized service I get there. Pros: individualized attention/ caring vet and staff Cons: none more

Good vet 2/15/2007

I last went to this vet in 2003, but I was always happy with them for general care. They were all very nice, and good to my cat. When she started having serious mental issues, I had to switch to another clinic that offered more ideas for things that might help her, as what we tried at Four Paws wasn't working. However, I'd still recommend Four Paws for your general needs, vaccines etc., they were good. more

Avoid Four Paws Animal Clinic 1/6/2007

The staff at Four Paws Animal Clinic has poor communication and listening skills. I am an experienced dog owner and I have a good rapport with my dog, yet the vet was unwilling to hear how to best deal with my pet. I brought my dog for a simple test and they insisted in taking my pet to the ?back? to perform the test without my supervision. I had to argue with the staff to persuade them from muzzling my dog. They are disrespectful and I don?t trust them. If I had allowed them to take my dog from me they would have muzzled him and pinned him down with force. Luckily, I was responsible and stayed with my dog. The test took two minutes and my pet was calm and cooperative. Pros: None Cons: Poor Listening skills more

Wonderful vet! 1/5/2007

This is the best! most caring vet clinic in town! I would trust my animals with no other vet! I miss their groomer Wendy though, she did such a good job on my pets. I'm glad I tracked her down at Sunny Acres Pet Resort. Other than that, awesome place to take your pets for vet care! Pros: Wonderful staff! Caring service! Cons: Groomer left. more

Best Vet Anywhere 11/2/2006

I HIGHLY recommend Four Paws as your veterinarian. I've been taking my pets there for 8 years or so. Dr. Smith and her staff are so accomodating and generous... and really care about you and your pets. Dr. Smith and her tech helped me care for my very old cocker and when it was time they were fabulous in helping me make the decision and deal with putting her to sleep. Now they are helping me deal with another sick dog and I can't say enough good things about them. It would be a lot more difficult to deal with these sick animals if I didn't have a competent and caring doctor for them. Pros: Staff, prices, accomodting more

the best 8/29/2006

I have been using this clinic for years and have never witnessed any of the issues surfreek is describing. I am very impressed with the service and advice I get from Dr. Smith and the staff at Four Paws. I am only writing this because I saw the negative rant and I found it offensive, and in my opinion a less than honest post!!! Pros: easy access, great value, good hours Cons: can be hard to see since it is tucked in a corner more

THE WORST 8/2/2006

I left my rant on here before and it got deleted. DO NOT take your pets to this clinic. I took in 2 dogs, never even MET the vet. Not allowed back there. Asked vet to look at one of my dogs ears, she said everything was ok. The dog has a chronic ear condition and needs surgery-she didn't see it??????? Cons: there is NO service, is there even really a vet there???? more
