first i will start with my experience. i called Fort thompson and asked if they had specific waiters in stock. she said she thought they were sold out and i asked if she could check and she said that you just need to come in. i thought whats the point of coming in if you said you don't have them and why can't you check its customer service i cant waste my time going there if you might not have them while i could be hunting and in the woods. so instead i called gander mountain and macks PW they were very helpful and considerate. i stopped by Gander mountain which is just across the street but a much better place to shop and picked them up which they had held for me and got to the duck woods in time for the hunt. my second concern is that instead of saying the people with bad reviews are wrong fort thompson you should accept them and try to improve your store not shun them and say they are wrong because they arent its, opinion so learn from the reviews and youll find many more people in your store not across the street. more

So, we have to actually write a review since we do not have the option to respond to individual reviews as we do on other business listing and review sites. We clicked 5 starts because, well.. we sure aren't going to click 1 star, and it's for our loyal customers who stick up for us on all of these random review sites anyway. We really and truly appreciate your time, effort and loyalty. We also ask that you be nice to the reviewers who don't like us. They have a right to express theie views, even if sometimes one might not give honest facts about us. We aren't mad about it because we have thousands of customers who would argue with them any given day. The facts are in the numbers and the fact that we are still going strong and growing since 1931. One thing you learn in this business is that for every 100 happy customers, there is 1 you just can't please. Life happens. So, we'd like to thank ARhunter, xzoup and the two reviewers feeding in from Insider Pages, THANK YOU for your positive, honest reviews and for sticking up for us in some cases. It is very much appreciated! As for the others, we don't know what to tell you guys. Everyone has a bad day now and then. Maybe the chemistry just wasn't right or the stars didn't align when you came to visit us. Sorry you are so unhappy with us. First, Fort Thompson's is a great place to shop. They DO know what they are doing, better than any other place I've been to in years. My father has been going to them since the mid 80's when they were at their old location, and I've been shopping with them since that time myself. In fact, several of the guys that work there now, were there at the old location when I was a kid. How are you going to convince me or anyone else that guys that have been there for almost 15 years don't know what they are doing? How many other places have employees for that long? I can count 6 gun and archery guys off the top of my head that have been there that long. I noticed on a Yahoo review page that this otterhide dude singed in as a different user name and pasted the exact same review that you see here. So, if you ask me, this guy either was one of those grumpy demanding customers who thinks there should be a red carpet for him and didn't get his way or is possibly a shill for one of their competitors. Either way, whether a shill or not, to post a review that contains false information about a company, just because you likely can't ever be satisfied with anything anyway, is not ethical. You will also noticed that they recently answered all of the posts on that other review page, and they probably don't know that the same people are ripping at them on this or other review pages. Anyway, I'll get off the pedestal. I have to give them 5 stars because I know the truth about them. Almost 25 years of my own experiences in their 2 locations. I still have the first 2 rifles my dad ever bought from them. They will also replace a gun or anything else if it's bad from the manufacturer, etc. They've done that twice for us. And their prices ARE better than most people you will go to locally. I don't care what anyone says. They also have a great selection of quality merchandise, maybe not everything under the sun, but if you are looking for cheaply made crap, you won't find it there. In the new location, they have an intercom system and I can't tell you how many times I've been in there and seen people laughing at their antics with each other. They are NICE people, will make you laugh, say yes sir and yes ma'am to you, and they care about helping. Guess I'm getting mad the more I write this. I'll end it with this, Fort Thompson, you guys are GREAT! Don't let grumpy old cry babies get you down. more

I thought it was just me but after reading these posts i realize Ft. Thompson needs to take heed to this web site.I have never had anything but bad experiences when visiting the store which i do only on a last resort basis!..Always treated like they didn't have time to waite on me. It was a burdon on them to help you. Smart A** attitudes! and the funny thing about it is they probably read these posts and laugh at them!!!!!!!!! The owner must be a real dufus!!!!!!! more

I have been to Fort Thompson twice and each time I had a bad experience. First the staff ignores you, second when you do get them to help they do not know anything and finally they are very rude. The store itself while appears to be well stocked is not. If you are looking for something specific you will not find it there. They just handle generic products. There reloading supplies are very random and incomplete. You can not find all of the components needed to reload anything but maybe shotgun ammo. Do not bother to ask them to order anything they will just tell you it is not available. On both of my visits I was told this only to find that I could order it myself online. I will never go there again and hope that whoever reads this never goes also. more

I have been in this place twice. The first time I found the service behind the gun counter appalling, so I gave Ft Thompson a wide birth. I went to another gun shop in Heber Springs and found them great to talk too. I told them about FT. Thompson and they told me many people felt the way I did. Eventually, I decided to go back to Ft. Thompson, because their was a shotgun I really liked. When I approached the gun counter, they helped me, but I felt like an unwanted guest in someones home. The grisly old fellows behind the gun counter would glare at me and acted as if they felt put out to help me. After working in retail myself for over 12 years, I felt like giving them all an ear full. What a bunch of wankers. Plus everything I looked at was way over priced. I gave it one star because I could not go lower. Avoid that place if you can! more

Fort Thompson is no doubt the best place for sporting good equipment, always well stocked with ammo, guns and many other things, lewis the manager is the nicest guy along with all the other employes. There catch phrase is no doubt true "We sell for less, always have, always will." more

For your hunting needs around here Ft. Thompson is the place to go the staff knows their stuff when it comes to guns and you probably wont find a better price around here. Ft Thompson is a well known name with the outdoors man as they have been around for several years more
