Forbidden Planet is the Sci-Fi/fantasy fan as they have loads of nerdy items: Buffy dolls, funky tees, lots of comics, Lord of the Rings collectibles, plastic batmobiles, etc. etc. It is one of the premiere sci-fi shops in NYC and the people who work her knows everything you could ever want to know about Spiderman. more

Nerd Shopping Heaven 3/11/2006

Want to know what the plot for V for Vendetta was before the Wachowskis got a hold of it? Need the latest issue of Love & Rockets? Have a geek on your Christmas shopping list? -- then you must go to Forbidden Planet, home of action figures, graphic novels and all things sci-fi. This store is much safer for non-nerds shopping for nerds, because if you're a nerd, it's heaven, and you'll want to buy just about everything. more

Planet weird 12/30/2005

Forbidden Planet is like a wacked out acid trip to comic book world and kitschy knick knacks galore. Have a yen to catch up on the adventures of Wonder Woman? Want to know what's the big thing with Manga? Or just want an I Love Lucy lunchbox? Forbidden Planet did not earn it's name for nothing. The objects de kitschy are not cheap though. more

If there was ever a comic book heaven this would be it 8/19/2005

This store brings back a lot of childhood memories. Comic books, toy model figurines, and video games, what more can you ask for? I haven’t actually purchased anything from the store but I did sell them a whole cardboard box of old comics I had collected. They gave me a price I couldn’t refuse. The transaction went smoothly and they were very generous about it. The staff seemed extremely knowledgeable about comics so any questions you had about superman issue #73 will be answered. The store itself would be a comic book lovers dream. Loaded with posters and toys it would make a grown man cry. If you’re into comics I suggest stop by this place. more

Perfect underground comic book lover! 8/18/2005

This is the place for any comic book lover. They have an entire basement floor filled with bargain basement priced comics as well as first editions of old comics like Uncanny X-men #1 and Golden Age Superman comics. The first floor sports all the newest comics they have to offer as well as an extensive toy model collection. They recently joined in on the video game hype and have an entire corner dedicated to new video game releases althought their selection isn't too great. They only hire staff that are knowledgeable in the hobby so you'll always find good answers to any of your comic book questions. more
