Flashbacks

My biggest complaint is the drinks. Not only are the drinks a little more expensive than elsewhere, but some of the drinks are mixed in 5 gallon tanks ahead of time rather than made on-the-spot as you would expect from a bartender that expects tips... I can only imagine they throw the alcohol on top in these tanks, because we were drinking at 11 and my friend and I tasted no alcohol whatsoever in our Sex on the Beach and Jagerbomb. None. The Slippery Nipples were done right, though. Getting a bartender's attention was always a 5-10 minute affair as well, though in all fairness they were very busy. The music on this particular Friday night was exclusively rap and it was exceedingly loud. Don't get me wrong, I like loud music, but hearing someone's yelling voice in your ear was impossible unless you sat about 80 feet back from the dance floor. Not particularly cohesive to a club imo, but I'm sure many people like it that loud. Positives: This club has quite possibly the best layout in Wichita, and if you like lively crowds you will certainly enjoy this one. It's the opposite of Liquid. You could have a good time here if you get your drinks elsewhere first and head to Flashbacks while the alcohol is setting in. If rap isn't your thing just find out what music they're playing in advance, since they play different styles. more

I'm spending a 10 day trip in Wichita to see the family and while I'm here there is time to see my best friends from high school. This entails flashbacks of memories but it also included Flashbacks, in Old Town, to go out dancing. http://www.360wichita.com/NightLife/Flashbacks.html The club is huge and has multi-level dance floors. On the Saturday night that we went it wasn't as busy as some other nights but it was certainly busy enough. The cocktail waitresses and female bartenders are forced to wear VERY skimpy and revealing outfits but, of course, the men get to wear boring outfits and they aren't required to be tiny in physical size. There are several beer stations that help to keep the bar empty enough that it's easier to get mixed drinks easily from either the bar directly or via the wait staff. Lots of booths and large bar areas allow for a variety of seating options and visibility around the room. Pool tables are in the south end of the building behind the DJ booth. Later in the evening it was getting pretty wild and I have to say that going to clubs is getting weirder and weirder. Too many people have watched cruddy videos where all that happens is a lot of bumping and grinding. there was a lot of that going on and several multi-person grope-fests. My friend advised that we leave about an hour before closing because sometimes it gets a little rough in there with fights toward closing time. I still had a good time although I could do without the smoking. I've gotten very used to the smoking ban already in Washington State and I hope it makes its way here soon. more
