Editorial review from Citysearch 11/26/2013

Flanders is the most expensive HVAC company around. There were also many many negative reviews posted here about Flanders. For some reason they were removed. If you want to find some of these negative reviews, you can still find them at Insider Pages. Simply Google the words "" Insider Pages, Flanders HVAC "" and you can still find some of them. Stay away from Flanders !!! more

Grade A customer service 3/1/2012

Last summer they installed a new furnace and ac for me. The ac ran great all summer. But when it was time to turn the heat on I was less than impressed with it. The heat never seemed to get hot. The repair guy was at my house so often I thought I was going to have to buy him a Christmas present. I thought they handled the whole problem really great, though. After multiple calls to the manufacturer trying to pinpoint the problem, they took the system out and replaced it with a brand new one for free. I was unlucky to have gotten a defective furnace from the manufacturer, but lucky to have Flanders working for me. Now I am thrilled with my new furnace. My house is always warm. The team over at Flanders worked really hard to make things right, Thank You. more

I really don't like Flanders Heating. 2/29/2012

Thanks to customer complaints, Flanders has apparently stopped their Gold, Silver and Bronze services. It wasn't fair to provide priority service to those who paid more. It should be based on the severity of the problem. Flanders would service Gold customers first, Silver customers second, and Bronze customers last. Gold customers paid more so they were serviced first. But it seems that Flanders may have discontinued this. \r \r Anyway, I know other people who still use Flanders. I guess it's easier to stay with something you know than make a change. So I know Flanders still overcharges. Their service agreements are NOT service contracts. If something breaks down, a service agreement simply gets a serviceman there at $119 an hour (Flanders says they cater to service agreement customers first; and a service agreement runs over $400 a year for heating and AC). So, if you need anything beyond a service agreement cleaning, Flanders always charges for a service call. Always. And with a servic more

Bogus Reviews 2/29/2012

These reviews are bogus, cut and pasted from older reviews on other sites, and embellished with lies. I have been using Flanders Heating & Air Conditioning for years. They installed my system and have been maintaining it since. I have never had an issue scheduleing or rescheduling an appointment around my schedule. My stove broke recently and the guy wanted $250 before he would even show up. So I don?t think there service fee of $119 was excessive. Don?t believe all the negative reviews. more

Flanders overcharges customers 6/16/2011

Flanders HVAC is not a good company for your Heating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) needs. They absolutely overcharge their customers, and they also schedule when it's convenient for them. For example, I always had a Flanders service agreement for heating and air conditioning, but they always scheduled a heating cleaning after the winter. What's the point of that? A heating cleaning should be done before the winter (to ensure proper working order of the furnace when it gets cold).\r \r \r I also have propane heat -- which is apparently a lot cleaner than an oil furnace, so Flanders would sometimes do the heating and AC cleaning at the same time. It only took about 40 minutes!!! It would have been a lot less expensive to NOT have a service agreement and simply have them come out once a year to just clean the furnace and AC. The service agreement is well over $400. A service cleaning is only $140 an hour (as of April 2011).\r \r \r But Flanders doesn't tell you this. The hidden truth about Flande more

I do NOT recommend Flanders !!! 5/20/2011

Flanders has an extremely inappropriate system of dealing with their customers.\r \r They have three service tiers: (1) Gold, (2) Silver, and (3) Bronze. The more you pay, the faster they come to you. In other words, if you are not paying for the higher priced Gold service, you don't get immediate service. For example, my mother-in-law was dying of cancer (with home Hospice), but because we didn't have Gold service, it took three days for them to fix our heating system. The electric heaters we borrowed didn't really heat the house properly -- which was absolutely unacceptable with a sick elderly woman in the house. And to add insult to in jury, I actually saw Flanders trucks whizzing by our neighborhood that afternoon and evening . That was absolutely unacceptable. I later found out that they were heading over to service Gold Tier customers.\r \r In short, money talks for Flanders. You grease their palm (i.e., pay more for Gold service), the better service you get. Personally I don't care more

Expensive Service. Arrogant attitude. 12/30/2010

I don't really like the attitude of this company. And they are expensive.\r \r In short, if you have a problem, Office Manager Theresa has pretty much said "...you can always go somewhere else if you want..." This type of attitude never goes over well with me. It borders on arrogance. And it sounds more like "If you don't like it, too bad." That being said, Theresa is basically borderline polite if you're not a problem, but if you question anything at all, the attitude begins.\r \r Also, many Flanders customers think they have a service contract with Flanders, but Flanders doesn't offer service contracts. They sell ESAs (Energy Savings Agreements). This simply means you get one "free" cleaning; however, Flanders charges for anything and everything outside of the basic cleaning agreement. In other words, an ESA is basically a prepaid service call, and they have a vested interest in finding something when they come out to service you. At that point, they can nickel and dime you death. They'v more
