I was really disappointed with the food. Having lived in Russia for 14 years, I have never seen blini as small and cold as they were served at this restaurant. I even asked the wa...

Great place. We went here on a Saturday night. It is truly a beautiful spot. We had the beef stroganoff and chicken kiev dishes for our main dishes. For our appetizer we had the caviar and vodka tasting. For dessert we had the Chocolate Raspberry cake and Chocolate Lavender Creme Brulee. The food and service were all excellent. The only issue we had is that we made a reservation in advance. When we arrived at the restaurant, it was packed and we waited at the bar until a table cleared. Luckily a table opened up within 10 minutes. It all worked really well anyway because got to taste some of their incredible honey vodka at the bar. It was an enjoyable experience for us. more

Horrible experience\r I want to nominate Betty Valentine for the worst manager of the year award. We made a reservation in advance, met with this manager twice, and met with the chef. We also confirmed our event 3 days before. But when me, my family and guests showed up on the day of the celebration NOBODY EXPECTED US. We needed to wait at least 40 min to get the o’derves. There was no honey vodka ( what was planned in advance), no o’derves that we ordered. Instead we got some leftovers from the kitchen and different kind of vodka that people didn’t like and most of that was left untouched. No manager was around, no chef available. I asked to call the manager and tried to find what happened- she hung up on me. We paid the full amount and the next day I called trying to get an apology- nobody did. Asked to talk to the owner, but was told that he doesn’t exist. I asked to get the refund for cocktail hour ( food and drinks that we didn’t order). As a reply I just got the answer-NO. Can’t believe that happened to me in the middle of NYC. Still very upset.\r more

I Love This Place. Took my girlfriend to Firebird Restaurant for lunch. The food, wine and service were excellent. The restaurant is made to look like a palace which was pretty cool. The decorations were amazing. They also have a large and amazing list of vodkas from around the world. We will definitely come back for dinner and to try their caviar tasting and sample some of the vodkas from their list. more

Great Dining Experience 10/20/2011

We were very glad that we stopped in for dinner at the Firebird restaurant. The restaurant was huge and encompassed 3 floors and decorated as a russian czars palace. The food was very impressive. We had the chicken kiev and beef stroganoff. The service was great. The manager helped us pick out a bottle of wine and had a lot of knowledge with wine and their backround. We also had the honey vodka. They have such a large vodka list and our waiter suggested the honey vodka. It was a great choice. We would highly recommend this restaurant. more

GREAT RESTAURANT 9/28/2011

Great Time. After a friend had recommended this establishment, I actually went into the Firebird website to see what to expect. After reviewing the website and learning that Mario Batali, the world famous chef and restaurateur, had recently had a dinner party there and gave a good review, I decided to try it out with my wife and in-laws. This establishment really lives up to the hype. We tried the caviar tray and that was good, the meal was very good, the service was good. They had a lengthy wine and vodka selection list. We really had a good time. I will recommend this place to my friends just as my friend recommended it to me. more

lovely experience 5/1/2011

Delicious food and elegant atmosphere. My boyfriend and I went there for Manhattan's Restaurant week to take advantage of the fixed price 3-course dinner. The fact the restaurant is behind a golden trimmed iron gate and has a doorman dressed in white gloves and a rabbit fur Russian winter hat already makes you feel regal walking in. The meal began very well with salmon caviar served with blintz and sour cream. The caviar was fresh and just popped in your mouth. For the entre, my boyfriend had borscht and I had the beef stroganoff. Mine was delicious but I liked his better. Thus began my loves for beets. Then the dessert was extremely fabulous: vanilla bean icecream topped with fresh strawberries drizzled with Grand Marnier reduction. Yum! more

Try the vareniki 7/21/2010

Came here for lunch for restaurant week. (There were more menu options under the RW dinner menu). \r \r I had the soup (cold beet) of the day to start, the Vareniki (mushroom ravioli) and the raspberry sorbet (too sweet). All very nice. \r \r My friends tried the Firebird blini, Georgian spiced chicken breast and the daily catch (tilapia) and the flourless chocolate cake. \r \r Service was a bit slow as there was only one waiter servicing all the tables. Pros: Not crowded, very good Vareniki Cons: Slow service more

Superb! 5/18/2010

I co-hosted a shower for my daughter on the private second floor of Firebird for 50 women. The magnificent setting, delicious food , and attentive service cannot be matched. Three days later I was still wanting more of my delicious meal. Our guests had choices of the chicken kiev, the short ribs, salmon in pastry, infused honey vodka, molten chocolate cake and cheesecake, to mention a few selections- all were memorable and my guests raved about the experience there. The wait staff could not do enough to please us and helped us carry out the presents to the car at the end . Claire, the party planner at Firebird was attentive to every detail and could not have been more helpfiul. All things come together at Firebird -the food is delicious, the service extraordinary to the end and the setting absolutely beautiful. We had an experience that we will treasure forever and I can't wait to go back! Pros: Great food, service, setting Cons: none more

Fantastic Cuisine 3/18/2010

Some of my colleagues recomended this restaurant and I decided to take my family out for a night out on the town. We all had a spectacular dining experience. The food was not only great but also tabled in a very artistic manner. In fact, the entire restaurant is set up as a Russian Palace. They have an extensive wine list but when we all saw the vodka list, we decided to order from the vodka list. This list must have had over 100 different vodka selections. We first orderd the caviar and vodka tasting. I am very glad that this restaurant was recomended to me as we all had a great dining experience. The food, service and atmosphere was really very good. I give this restaurant an A+ rating and I am truly a fan. more

Terrible, expensive... so many fake reviews posted! 5/10/2009

This place is terrible... after reading all the rave reviews, which now sound totally completely fake, I was very disappointed with expensive, tasteless food and lack of service. The FireBird is setup to ripoff visiting tourists into a costly bad meal with a pretty setting - stay away! Pros: Some fancy decor Cons: Bad food, service, cost more

Excellent choice !!! 2/26/2009

I took my mom for her birthday to Firebird restaurant because I know she likes czarist era. Except she was completely delightful with the ambiance, she was also very happy to try out caviar tasting. She picked platinum selection, where she paired Osetra caviar with Stoli Vodka, which was stunning experience. I went with Sturgeon because it is a beautiful poached white piece of boneless fish in gorgeous champagne sauce. At the end of the dinner the manager gave us a tour explaining the history of this place. All together-excellent choice ! We'll be back ! Pros: Ambience, Food, Service more

Wonderful 1/24/2009

We had a wonderful dining experience here. This was our first time at this restaurant and will absolutely come back. We were treated very well and the dining was exquisite. We just could not get over the listings of vodka they had which had to have totaled to at least 200. We could not choose because of the large selection and they recomended the honey vodka. Wish I could have taken a whole case with me. The honey vodka was out of this world. Very nice experience. more
