Fiddlestix Cafe 10/30/2006

What's not to love about a place called Fiddlestix? I stumbled onto this spot recently while in Cornwall, NY looking for a place to have breakfast. Bingo--Fiddlestix was just the place to enjoy a meal. This small, very casual cafe has food prepared to order for breakfast and lunch---a number of specials are written on a wipeoff board within easy view of the half a dozen tables in the cafe. There are also four counter seats and an open view kitchen where the food is prepared. Indeed, I had found just the perfect spot to enjoy a delicious hot breakfast of a generously stuffed breakfast burrito and endless cup of joe. Breakfast offers a dizzying array of egg dishes--including their specialty 3 egg omelets. Pancakes and waffles run a close second and you can enjoy your meal with bacon, ham, sausage and home fries. The lunch menu includes burgers, panini sandwiches, and salads. I understand they even offer free delivery in the immediate vicinity--wished I lived closer. Come hungry. Leave here very happy. www.fiddlestixcafe.com more

I can't believe I've never stopped before this week 9/5/2006

The Fiddlestix Cafe has been a fixture on Cornwall's Main Street for several years now, but I never stopped in for a bite to eat until this past Monday. Looking to feed my new sister-in-law and niece before their Labor Day drive back to Pennsylvania, we stopped for lunch. I was amazed by the menu at this breakfast and lunch hole-in-the-wall. Talk about creative! Snappy meal names were accompanied by appetizing descriptions. I went for a veggie burger topped with cheddar cheese and salsa on a multi-grain roll, with sweet potato fries on the side. It was huge, but cost only $7.00 The cherry on top, so to speak, is the price. For the quality of food, they owners could get away with higher prices, but I am sure that the value prices combined with the creative menu items get diners in the door. I see now why this is a busy place! The only downside is that the Fiddlestix Cafe doesn't serve dinner, but I think that serves them well, as they are jam-packed for breakfast and lunch. more
