used books for sale 9/1/2005

The bookstore in the Ferguson Library is a wonderful place to get used books at very low prices. Soft covers are usually 50c to $1 while hardcovers are usually sold at $2 each. They have lots of categories from history, arts, photography, business, science, computers and also childrens books. They also have some DVDs, CDs and videos. But there is no catalog available so you will have to look through to locate what you need. The store is run by volunteers who are very helpful. The Starbucks coffee shop beside the bookstore is a major attraction. Once a month there is a collectibles sale held where you get rare and unique books for a third or less than the original prices. more

Reading Rendezvous 8/18/2005

Almost every town in Fairfield County had an exemplary library. The Ferguson Library in Stamford provides its multi-cultural community with an array of services, resources and programming that is truly amazing. The librarians are energetic and creative in their approach to patrons (that’s us!) If you don’t want to brave the parking situation downtown, the Harry Bennett Branch off High Ridge Road is modern and comfortable and has a great collection. Springdale residents are currently using the Bookmobile until the new Weed Branch is completed. more
