This Wall Street landmark has been servicing lower Manhattan since 1934. Al and Michael Platt (2nd and 3rd Generation owners) provide thoughtful insight on wine tasting, are generous with their knowledge of wine growing regions, grapes, and methodologies, and can always be counted on giving you the better wine for less money than the one you thought was good (i.e. Kendall Jackson, Yellowtail, Woodbridge, etc.). Wine tastings are held every Friday from 4-7pm at no charge, so you can experience different grapes from different regions without spending any $$. They not only tell you about the better, lesser-known wines, they let you sample them too. What else can you ask for? Michael and Al Platt own and operate this small liquor store at the corner of Exchange Place and William Street. You'll notice the difference as soon as you walk in. I was asked if I wanted a glass of wine to enjoy while I looked around. A nice selection of California wines balance some local NY, Italian and French wines, as well as a few others. If there is anything you would like to try that they do not stock, just let them know...they tell me they will order it and gove it a shot as well. Decent liquor selection, although I have less of a need for that. They will deliver locally. more
