Good Food, Nasty Waitress 12/23/2010

I and 3 of my friends stopped here for lunch today. Our waitress was great, and our food was hot, delicious and well made. HOWEVER! While our waitress was wearing her standard company shirt and khaki's, another waitress thankfully not ours was trotting about in a short khaki skirt. Not even a skirt as I have underwear that comes lower than this skirt did. She was an almost large size girl in a micro mini skirt. It was VERY inappropriate and I was fearful for her to bend over to clean the table beside us. Honestly I lost my appetite because it was so short. It is also December 23rd and freezing outside, the rest of the staff is in pants. How this was not corrected upon her arriving to work I have no idea. It was genuinely disgusting, and disrespectful. I probably will not return as a dine in customer as I don't enjoy staring at a girls almost bare rare end as I attempt to eat my lunch. more

Restaurant is so-so 11/3/2008

While visiting Salem, VA, we decided to stop at Famous Anthony's for dinner (on Main Street).\r \r My husband ordered this huge meal with fish, shrimp, salad, and fries that was about $10. He seemed to really like it and it was a great price.\r \r I, on the other hand, had the exact opposite happen. The vegetarian options at this restaurant are technically non existent, so I went with the vegetarian wrap. I don't like mushrooms or onions, but the wrap still came with lettuce, tomatos, pickles, peppers, cucumbers, and dressing (maybe carrots too?). When my wrap came it had: tomatos, cucumbers, and lettuce. I had to ask the waitress for a dressing and then had to put it on myself. The wrap looked rather large, but when I unwrapped it to add the dressing I was shocked. The tortilla wrap was huge, but only about 1/3 of it was filled. They were completely cheap on the filling (and it's only veggies for goodness sake!) There was less than a hand full of stuff on the wrap, then they went and wrapped the tortilla around and around itself to make it look large. I opened the other half to put the dressing on and it was the same way, so I know it wasn't just a fluke. And where were the pickles and the peppers? I was sitting there staring at the wrap trying to decide if I should complain, when I decided not to. I just ate the wrap. I also ate the chips that came with it and half of my husband's fries since my tiny wrap wasn't enough to fill me up. $7.00 for a veggie wrap that had barely anything in it.\r \r So, if you go, don't go looking for vegetarian dishes. Perhaps some of the meals are worth it, but don't even bother getting the veggie wrap.\r \r On the other hand, if you're in the mood for fish and shrimp, do try their special for $10.00 Pros: Good variety menu with seafood, meat, sandwiches, etc. Cons: Lousy vegetarian choices. more

Great Service at Anthony's 11/23/2007

My husband and I eat at Famous Anthony's often (in Roanoke, Blacksburg and Christiansburg area), and find the food very good, and the service great. Recently, we ate in the Christiansburg store, and Nikki waited on us. We found her to be a delight. She was friendly, and went out of her way to give us great service. Thank you for doing a great job and making our visit a pleasure. Pros: Service Cons: Sometimes I find the restaurant a little messy. Not cleaned up like it should be. more

Horrible Experience 9/30/2006

My husband and I stopped in around 9 pm for a quick salad on Friday night. We were met with incompetence as soon as we entered the door. We were amongst 15 people waiting for a table, although the resturant was only half full. At least 10 times waitresses passed us by before we were asked if we wanted a table. After being seated we gave our entire order - instead of the drink order. Simple enough - 2 chef salads and two sweet teas. We received only one salad and a chicken platter. Okay - we thought. We are hungry the salad was huge and we wanted a truly pleasant experience. As the minutes passed, and the salad was half eaten we found something. I am not going to speculate what it was, but ... it wasn't supposed to be there. We found the waitress and she said nothing other than it looked gross. Our salad was not replaced. We were not compensated for our food, time or trouble & we were forced to leave still hungry. Upon leaving the cashier was most concerned with the braids in her hair and her appearance. She turned to the other cashier and stated she had plans and could she finish ringing us because she needed to run to the back and tinkle. We were half way through the transaction. I will not be returning to Famous Anthony's. more

Great food, ignore the staff. 9/19/2006

The food here is very good and service is fast, but the waitstaff isn't always friendly. The prices are very good and its great place for groups and kids. Pros: Great food and prices. Cons: waitstaff could use a friendly boost more
