While it is the only choice Fairpoint is a decent phone company. Formerly known as Comtel Phone Company, Fairpoint provides phone service to a large section of Central Maine as reasonable rates. The service has gone downhill a little when they started using national call centers, but you still get the final service from local technicians that know the area and the people.
