I purchased a 4 year old FCB home several years ago as a foreclosure. As part of the buying process I had the home inspected and all problems with the home were noted in the report. After living here for about a year an over-sized fixed position window started cracking for no apparent reason. I called FCB homes and they made me jump through a bunch of hoops before they would even discuss the problem with me. I had the window examined for replacement by a private vendor and was told that the window was either defective when it was installed or the external wall where it was mounted was shifting causing stress on the glass which led it to crack. I brought this information to FCB and they refused to send anybody out to even look at the window or the wall. I was later sent a warranty denial letter which was penned by Dawn James, Customer Care Director, which was insulting. Rather than simply saying no the letter told me it was illogical and unreasonable to expect FCB to fix a cracking window since I bought a foreclosure, as this would be like receiving a ""windfall"" or ""double recovery"". I called the window manufacturer, Milgard Windows, as well and was told that they only backed the product for one year.
As if this wasn't enough I just had to replace the entire HVAC system in the home. I was told by my private vendor that the system installed by FCB was essentially the cheapest available and the normal life span is about 5 years. It is no wonder that I have been receiving information from attorneys regarding class action suits being considered against FCB Homes for various problems in this neighborhood.
My experience has been very negative and just because you end all correspondence with ""We value you as a customer"" doesn't make it true. Call me old school but if your actions aren't consistent with your words, the words are meaningless and it shows a lack of respect for customers. I like my neighborhood but I would NEVER buy another FCB home because of the way I was treated and the quality of the materials they use.
If you are considering an FCB home, research the company better than I did and proceed with caution because you are on your own.
