I have never encountered such RUDE sales staff. I had inquired of the price of a car on the lot, I was informed that it had sold. I was curious to know how much they sold it for. ...

Good, friendly people and got a great deal with a nice warra 5/11/2012

Good, friendly people and got a great deal with a nice warranty on a 1998 4-Runner in great shape. It goes without saying ""buyer beware"" with used cars; if you aren't well versed in vehicle wear and tear, always bring a used car to a trusted mechanic first. more

CUSTOMER SERVICE IS WHAT COUNTS RIGHT? NOT AT ESSEX. 11/25/2011

I have never encountered such RUDE sales staff. I had inquired of the price of a car on the lot, I was informed that it had sold. I was curious to know how much they sold it for. I was yelled at by a salesman that said it wasn't my business. So, I pointed out his poor customer service skills and I was hung up on. I called back to speak with a manager. The manager got on the phone and immediately became belligerent and started yelling at me, saying things like ""I SELL CARS FOR WHAT I WANT TO SELL THEM FOR AND THE NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN A CUSTOMER AND MYSELF ARE NONE OF YOUR DAMN BUSINESS!"" I would attempt to initiate communications but was yelled at some more - ""DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE WORDS THAT ARE COMING OUT OF MY MOUTH?! and YOU BE QUIET AND LISTEN!"" I asked if they were members of the BBB and he confirmed that they were. I was shocked. I informed him that I would be filing a complaint and he should polish up his customer service skills. I was hung up on... AGAIN. Stay away from this place, unless, you like to be disrespected, demeaned and treated like a child. I did file a complaint with the BBB. ""I am the customer, I am right. Regardless of what you believe, your customers PAY your bills. If it wasn't for us, you would starve."" more

We here at Essex Motors strive to satisfy every customer, but of course this is impossible. In the past 7 years, we have sold over 5000 cars and try in our family business to treat everybody respectfully and in the manner we wish to be treated ourselves. We are dissapointed in any negative feedback but are shocked with the 5000 cars we've sold, that we only have two negative entries. All the positive feedback we receive via by personal contact in our business is not reflected in this website. If you wish to call us, we can provide numerous references about our perfomance. We have achieved over 30 percent referal and repeat business within the last year and are proud of our business standards and ethics! Give us a try we would like to earn your business! You WILL be treated fairly! -From the owners and staff here at Essex Motors 303-678-0300 more

Buyer BeWare 2/24/2011

1-15-2011 we purchased a used vehicle from Essex Motors. We took the vehicle for a short test drive and I mentioned to my son and the salesman that I thought the vehicle was shifting funny. I was assured that due to the temperatures being below 0 that day and the truck had been sitting that this was the reason it was shifting strangely. The vehicle was brought home and my son drove the vehicle daily. I finally got the opportunity to drive the vehicle and again noticed that the vehicle was not shifting properly. I took the vehicle to (2) local longmont transmission companies. The transmission needs to be rebuilt $2900.00 dollars. I called the dealership and they said well we will see what we can do for you as a repeat customer. I took the vehicle down they took if out for a drive and agreed there was an issue. In the mean time I took (2) other auto's from Essex motors to a local mechanic and had them checked out thinking I would possibly trade the auto we purchased for something else. First vehicle needed about $2500.00 in work the second was well over $1000.00 we decided we will fix the original vehicle purchased and Essex will not see our faces ever again even as a repeat customer they were not willing to assist us with the expense of the transmission repair. All I can say is Buyer BeWare do not buy an auto from this dealership without having a mechanic doing a thorough inspection.\r more

NOT a place to buy a used car 7/30/2007

On Feb 8, 2007, my stepdaughter purchased her FIRST vehicle from Essex Motors, a 1998 Nissan Altima. The car had high mileage (175299 ) but she was assured by the salesman ""This is the car for YOU"". Having a bundle of cash from her Tax return, she made the decision to pay cash -$3500 - and was SO proud of her accomplishment !!! Before she had put 200 miles on it, the car began running rough, so she took it to a family friend ( mechanic - certified - 35 yrs. exp. ), who tested it via computer analysis, and he found that it needed a new ""air exchanger"" at a cost of $350, so now we know why Essex Motors DID NOT provide an emissions certificate (as required in the county in which she purchased it ). Approximately 1 month later ( she had taken the car to Arkansas to her grandmother's funeral - about 2800 miles ) the car started running ""rough"" again, and she took it back to my mechanic, and ""LO AND BEHOLD"", it needed a new timing chain. Once again, we paid approx. $1200 to have this repaired. By this time, we are beginning to suspect ""LEMON"", and sure as heck, one of the ""like new' tires started to show metal , so there's another $50. She was assigned work duty in a small mountain town for a couple weeks, and we were just starting to think ""finally"" we're done with expenses. The third day she went to work in Estes, the car ""DIED"" on the way home. We had it towed to their lot and ""THEIR"" mechanic found the screw in the distributor stripped and loose. Instead of replacing the screw, he put the old one back in, and two days later it ""DIED"" again. I replaced the screw. About 3 weeks later, she went camping and on the way home, the radiator ""split"" clear across the top - another $170, plus labor. Enough??? NO, not hardly.........Last week, she was on her way home from work, and the ""CAR"" died again. This time, I found the remnants of a ROD BEARING CAP under it. It still had oil in the crankcase, but attempting to restart it, it locked up.....SO, my review is complete !!! more
