I only had $20 dollars in my pocket and a job interview the next day. But I wasn't going to get ahead if I didn't look good. So I went here. Pros: null Cons: null

DO NOT GO HERE AT NIGHT! UNSUPERVISED STAFF!! 3/29/2012

I was going to a student by the name of Janeaa, and she did a beautiful job. She'd been doing this since October. However, on the last visit in February, she decided to just completely butcher my hair! I mean, I cannot do anything with it, that's how bad of a job she did.. There was no supervising teacher. I would not have minded if i hadn't been going to her. It took me a year to grow out my hair to one length, and in one fell swoop, she messed it up. She almost made it into a mullet. To this day, 3/29, I still cannot do anything with it. She tried covering it up with a curling iron!! They need a supervising teacher to come over and see what the students are doing before they take it upon themselves to do whatever they feel like doing..regardless that it might cause us humiliation. Horrible Service 2/2/2011

I went a few months ago because a friend had gone there for school and said the salon was great. My previous cut was grown out and needed a refresher. The girl i had did an ok job. She seemed a little unsure and was asking the instructors questions, which I prepared myself for. The 1 instructor was professional and was very personable. The other was the total opposite. First, she totally ignored me and told the girl that the cut I asked for would be horrible for me (even though that was the cut I had already) and that my face was too fat as she looked me in the eye. Second, said the customer never knows what they want and don't listen to them. I'm a trainer for a customer service based company and I would NEVER say that to my employees. If this is how this school teaches their students to behave in the real world, I suggest you better run away from this place. The last straw was the lady at the front desk kept insisting that my handwritting is horrible in the middle of me paying. It's not my fault if you don't know the difference between an "o" and "a." more

Complete horror 1/3/2011

I am visiting NYC from Miami and needed a quick wash and blowdry. I searched on my iPhone for nearby places and found this place as the closest. I walk in and I was very plesantly greeted. I told them what service I needed and the lady that called me in put me in a chair and started washing my hair. She did a great job with that but when I was put in the chair for the blow dry the horror began. I clearly explained to her to use a round brush to make the ends curly. Im not sure if she had ever seen a round brush before and she had no idea how to use it. I asked one of the instructors to guide her since she was having servere dificulties but the instructur did not say or do much. After almost 45 min she was almost half way through and I was at this point very frustrated. She then tangled the brush in my hair and had to tear it out with her fingers and that put me on the verge of a nervous breakdown. I told her as polite as I could to "STEP BACK AND LET ME FINISH MYSELF!!" No instructors came to her assistance so I ended up doing my own hair. more

not a good idea 11/17/2010

I would only recommend this if you happen to be one of the 5 people in the world that likes going to the DMV... That is what this experience was..the dude that cut my hair had never cut a mans hair before or even his own... He washed my hair for 45 min because he was scared to cut it, then the nice manager lady tried to help him at the end, after 2 hours and then everybody just stopped and said it was done... They then followed me in to make sure I would pay the 5 bucks and then he hovered around for a 2 dollar tip.. I felt bad for him ... Over all it was an experience but I will go to a regular barber for 15 bucks and 30 minutes over 8 bucks and 2 (scared) hours ..the funny thing is I still had to have my girlfriend finish the back and sides !!! Overall stay far away unless you love to torture yourself! more

Really great experience 1/8/2009

Ok. I've had my hair cut by the same person for years. But it was an emergency situation and someone suggested that I try out the student salon. It was a great experience and not only am I crazy happy with my cut, I'm definitely going back. Pros: Great people, great price, great cut. Cons: You gamble- it could be great or it could be tragic. You won't know until you get there. more

bad technique 9/27/2008

I had THE worst hair cut ever... To begin with, they ran out the hot water when she was washing my hair (she told me that it happens often!) and they don't use a towel to dry your hair - just paper towel (she told me that's a sanitary reason). And the person who dealt with my hair didn't know what she was doing at all, she needed her teacher's help from the beginning to the end. My hair is so uneven, I look like a ten year old kid now. I ahd to go fix it somewhere else... Don't go. Pros: just $8 and change for a hair cut but it's not worse it Cons: too many more
