DO NOT MOVE HERE. Let me just start by telling you we are a young, hard working professional couple, who are NOT on section 8, both work 2 jobs and are very careful about taking good care of our living areas. We are polite, social people who never really have any issues with anyone else. We keep to ourselves and respect others. That being said, if you are anything like us, RUN FAR FROM THIS PLACE and don’t waste your hard-earned money. My husband I moved to Rockland from Boston looking for a quieter place, with more room and place we can have 2 cars. At first, the lofts looked AMAZING! The high ceilings, rustic columns, exposed vents and new appliances were all very appealing. We liked the history that came with the place as well. We were sucked in right away. The first few days we were in, was when things went downhill for us. We immediately realized the walls were so thin, we could hear our next door neighbor’s sneeze, their TV blaring and worse, we often heard not just one neighbor, but many neighbors on either side of us having sex. We were glad we didn’t have young kids. It’s not just the neighbors, the noise and the smells of everyone’s dinner. We can deal with that. It’s the management. From Gail, to Angelo and now to Nate and Dianne. They are all criminal swindlers disguised as landlords and managers. Don’t let the title of “luxury apartments” fool you. The majority of people renting units in this large building are Section 8. Crappy, disgusting, loud and dirty people that will throw beer bottles of glass in the parking lot, their kids take craps in the pool (it just recently had to be drained completely, cleaned and then re-opened) the gym equipment is always broken, right now the tread on the treadmill slips completely off and the elliptical doesn’t turn. Not to mention the plow barely comes during a winter storm, so forget about trying to get out. And the management office ISN’T OPEN ON MONDAYS, and can often be seen closed numerous times during the week. We had to spend 2 long years in this awful place because my husband is military, and was overseas when our lease was up so I was forced to renew. And now that we are out, I took pictures of the place as we left it, clean and spectacular, and they are coming back to us now with fake pictures of holes in the walls that we never made, claiming they’re going to charge us hundreds of dollars for repairs! I’m so upset over this whole situation I want to cry. We are being treated the same as their Section 8 tenants whose apartments I’ve seen, massive gaping holes in the walls, stains and units that reek of marijuana. There’s one apartment in our hallway that basically has a revolving door…many many men in and out. the woman who lives next door has a young daughter who hears what goes on in there and she’s mortified. The moral of the story is take your money elsewhere if you want to have a happy, pleasant living experience. Rockland is a great city, plenty of nice, calm places to live. But the Emerson Shoe lofts are NOT one of them.
