These guys are trying to get a better reputation but they have had pretty bad service and poor inventory for years. Not recommended.

My experiences have been completely positive 3/15/2011

I work in sales and pay attention to how I am treated (might learn something, right?) My experiences have been completely positive at this store. Bought my first gun in Jan - best price in town and three more since. Started reloading due to high ammo costs and the expertise at the El Cajon Gun Exchange is the best in town - they helped me get started with the equipment, technical help, and components when they can get them. I'm new so I ask all the dumb questions. When I asked about the bad reviews they told me that they are really working on presenting a better attitude and that they have even hired some new folks just with an emphasis on customer satisfaction. They usually ask me how they are doing, good and bad. The deals they gave me and the way they treat me they have a customer for as long as I am in their area. I recommend giving them a second chance and letting them know what they get right or wrong - I think you'll be surprised. I'll continue to shop and recommend the El Cajon Gun Exchange. more

i wanted to buy a hand gun for the first time. I didn't know what i had to go through to buy it. They was very good on how they explained it. They went on to explain different hand guns, the advantage disadvantage of the product. I thank them. more

The same guy (I think he's a/the manager) has helped me out before on several occasions. He took a lot of time to explain to me the features of the various gun safes, and another time when I came in, he took plenty of time in helping me figure out exactly what scope mount would be compatible with a rifle I brought in. They also worked out a discount package price on targets/ammo when I took a firearms training class with the criminal justice program at Grossmont College. more
