We initially planned on staying a week and ended up staying 3 weeks. What a nice place to stay with beautiful views and really nice people that offer lots of things to do. They offer horsebackriding (ride theirs or bring your own) with miles and miles of trails into the beautiful San Juan Mountains. You can swim in the pool, soak in the hot tub, get a massage, play golf, volleyball, basketball, tennis, etc. Bring your 4 wheelers for family outings... It even offers the perfect setting to get married! They have a nice restaurant with a reasonably priced menu and delicious food. The folks that own and run this establishment are top drawer... they really go out of their way to accommodate your needs. We had a great time and would absolutely stay here again! We are fulltimer's and Echo Basin is one of the nicest places we've stayed. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. more

A destination park during tourist season for sure. Tennis, swimming, fishing, horseback rides, cafe, BB court, and more. We stayed when the resort had closed most facilities for the season except for full RV hookups. That is all we needed anyway, while exploring the areas national parks and museums for several days. The sites are well dispersed with plenty of room between rigs. Easy access with both long back-ins and some pull-throughs. Camp hosts were very friendly and had a packet that showed many area points of interest. Very quiet and peaceful, level FHU sites and our Verizon signal was very strong and our satellite dish worked well. A PPA RV park. We would stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome. more

We planned a trip to Durango and decided we wanted to stay in a cabin, and found Echo Basin in Mancos, about 22 miles from Durango. It was really wonderful. The cabin was very spacious, and grounds were beautiful, and we had deer walking right by our campsite. They arranged a trail ride for us on short notice and tried to accommodate us in any way they could. The cabin did not have any dishes, silverware, or cookware, so I was a little thrown off by that. You ARE camping, but my boys so enjoying lighting the campfire each night. Linens are not changed during your stay, except for towels, which you put outside of your cabin and they drop of fresh ones later in the day. The cabin is not fancy. The beds were servicable, and the bunk beds were metal barracks-style. My teen loved retreating to the loft in the cabin. The restaurant at the lodge is adequate, but the restaurant in Mancos itself is excellent. The bar at the lodge is good and they have free pool on Thursdays. The outdoor swimming pool was well kept. The beauty of the setting would sell me on staying here again, as well as the helpfulness of the staff. And while the cabin didn't have a lot of amenities (tv did not work) it had it's own charm. Overall, this was a great place to stay. more

We stayed over a Thursday and Friday nights. On Thursday we rode horses for a couple of hours, which was great. Then we ate dinner in the restaurant. The burger was great as well as the nachos and desert! The wait staff was friendly. Friday we went to Mesa Verde and had drinks at the bar in the evening. Both nights we wandered around the trails with our dogs for nice evening strolls. more

My daughter and I visited here last summer. As my daughter is ""horse crazy"" our main reason for the visit was to go on trail rides. We stayed in an A frame cabin. While it was not updated, like a luxury hotel, it was fine. Other reviews have complained that their cabins were dirty. Ours was not dirty at all! Again, it wasn't fancy or elaborate, but it is a cabin at a ranch. It was what we expected. It was very nice to have a microwave, fridge and sink so we could prepare most of our meals in the cabin and save some money. We went on two trail rides with Sara and Morgan. They were the nicest trail guides that we possibly could have met! They made the trip My daughter and I visited here last summer. This is a wonderful place to go to get away from everything. The campground personnel are very friendly and willing to go out of their way to help you and make things easier. We went on a trail ride through the property. Our guide was a very knowledgeable person and was very friendly (we are thinking about sending our daughters to her to have riding lessons and some of her friends as well). The restraunt staff was also great, the food was decent for the price, and they even had some comparable drink prices. \r The campground was clean and organized, they were almost full to capacity in the cabins, and the only downfall was that the pool was being worked on and would be open after we left. However we will be going back as soon as we possibly can. \r I wish to say ""Thank You to all""! more

Absolutely beautiful location! VERY kid friendly. Basketball court, volleyball court, tire swing, regular swings, merry-go-round, all nestled in the wooded area. Horses on site, very friendly handlers, nice stable location for horses. Message therapy on site for $39 for an hour! Loved that! Nice big clean pool area. Beautiful putting greens (looks like a mini gold course to me). Beautifully landscaped. Elegant & fun restaurant w/ pool tables, dance floor and bar area. Cabins are a bit close, however it's VERY quiet and private. You can move tables/chairs around however you like. Fire pit and charcoal grills available. We stayed in cabin 11 (deluxe cabin) and we were very pleased. Cabins are 50 years old, decorations are out of date, furniture is old. However, if we wanted the ""Hilton"" then that's where we would have stayed. We stayed at Echo for the beautiful location, BIG cabin w. amenities, family friendly, pool, golf, horse back riding, etc. So just keep that in mind if you choose to stay here. It's like camping ""upscale"". The deluxe cabin does have a full service kitchen, 2 bathrooms, enough space to comfortably sleep 15 people, and the coolest little cubby hole behind the stair case, PERFECT for toys and for kids to play! Overall, we are pleased and would consider going back for another family vacation! more

Nestled at the base of the la plata mountains where the natives believe life began is echo basin resort. The energy is as pure as the crisp mountain air. If you look up you will most likely see a golden eagle soaring in the colorado blue sky. There are giant mule deer bucks sharing the space with the campers and the wedding parties. It is a place that will create stories for me to tell my friends and family for a lifetime. We stayed in a large rustic cabin that was a perfect fit for our family. Plenty of room and a nice kitchen for snacks and favorite foods. The restaurant was great very ranch like and comfortable great for the kids. We ate amazing home cooked breakfasts with food we bought from the local natural foods store. Amazing hikes just up the road in the mornings kiddos down for a nap in the afternoon cold brew on the deck of our cabin while the kids sleep sound. This is a real colorado experience. On a year round working ranch we really felt as their guest. We were looking for peace and found it we will be going back. We found a place where stories are made. more

THE ULTIMATE OUTDOORS 5/22/2012

THESE CABINS WERE JUST WHAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR - RUSTIC AND QUIET. THE CABINS WERE OLD AND IN NEED OF SOME REPAIR BUT THEY WERE ROOMY FOR OUR FAMILY OF 5. THE RANCH OFFERED A LOT OF AMENITIES. OUR ONLY COMPLAINT - IF YOU WANT TO CALL IT A COMPLAINT - IS THAT WE NEEDED MORE TOWELS, COFFEE AND TOILET PAPER. TOWELS ARE EXCHANGED DAILY, BUT NOTHING ELSE IS PROVIDED. SOME UTENSILS WOULD HAVE BEEN HELPFUL, BUT OVERALL, WE WERE VERY HAPPY AND WOULD GO BACK AGAIN. THE GROUNDS AND SCENERY WERE BEAUTIFUL - GREAT PLACE FOR THE ULTIMATE OUTDOORS PERSON. more

service was amazing 5/3/2012

Recently my cousin got married at Echo Basin Ranch and it was beautiful. The wedding was fantastic, the food was great and the service was amazing. We went horse back riding before the wedding and had an amazing time with our guide Bobby and Mike. They were the best guides I have ever had on a horse back riding adventure. They knew so much about the area and they were so entertaining and fun the whole trip. 2 hours almost wasn't enough time for the ride because it was so fun. If you ever visit beautiful Echo Basin ranch go horse back riding with Bobby and Mike, they are a blast!!! more
