Dear Mr. Harvey, \r \r On behalf of myself and the staff at Eagle Ridge, please let me extend once again, our condolences on the loss of your friend Emily. We are all shocked and deeply saddened by her unexpected death. Emily was a sweet and spirited dog and I know she will be dearly missed by many. Many years ago, my own dog, Ellie was struck and killed by a car while she was in the care of someone I trusted. Her death took my breath away, so I know full-well the heartbreak that you are feeling and the depth that those emotions carry. \r \r As to what caused Emily’s death, I wish I had an answer for all of us. Her death occurred during the night and unfortunately, without definitive findings from a necropsy it is unlikely to know with certainty, her cause of death. I can however address your concern that our staff was negligent in Emily’s care, by feeding her and then allowing her to play immediately, thereby increasing the possibility that she would bloat. We do not manage dogs in that manner, simply because we know better. \r \r A health crisis or accident is always difficult. They can happen at any time with our pets, while we’re at home, while we’re walking or playing in the park, or in Emily’s case, while at a boarding kennel. Our staff is experienced and knowledgeable. We are very aware of the risk factors of many health issues, including those of bloat. Being proactive and responsive to the signs and symptoms of illness and injury allows us to communicate well with owners and veterinarians concerning the needs of those in our care. Many times our staff has been praised for our knowledge and quick action. That is an accolade Eagle Ridge is proud of. \r \r Additionally, we are always mindful of each pet’s emotional needs and tailor their stay to keep them as safe and comfortable as possible. Providing the appropriate care necessary, to ensure those needs are met is not only a priority of our staff but also a testament of our character. I can assure you none of the animals in our care are mistreated. Emily and Jordan were no exception.\r \r I’m certain, all of this may be of little consolation or comfort to you, as your loss is so tragic. It seems unfair that sometimes death comes uninvited and unannounced and with no time for even a brief goodbye. I wish I could give you Emily back, truly I do. Happy and playful is the way I will remember her. Having stood where you stand, I wish you peace when you step forward.\r \r With sympathy,Kate Watson more

I recently brought my two, very healthy, dogs to Eagle Ridge Kennels...I only brought one home. My beautiful Emily died at Eagle Ridge Kennels and only Eagle Ridge knows what they have done and if they are negligent, i.e. feeding my dogs and having them immediately go out an play even though the breed is susceptible to Bloat...I don't know to be honest...but I think people should know that a healthy 6 year old dog died in their care...We have had our dogs boarded their before and there have been incidents in the past like excessive weight loss, which we attributed to excessive play and a skin tear that we attributed to an accident...just an accident that could happen anywhere. In hindsight, I brought my dogs to a place that mistreated them and that just destroys me inside...it destroys me that I take some of the blame for my best friends death. You make the decision on whether you want to take the chance of boarding your loved ones at Eagle Ridge Kennels for yourself...I am devastated that I took my dog to this kennel and it is something I will have to live with for the rest of my life; it is my opinion that Eagle Ridge Kennels gave my dogs poor care every time I left them in their care. more

The Training Crew Rocks! 3/26/2012

I trained our dog at Eagle Ridge along with my family as a child. It created such an incredible bond with my lab/golden mix. We cherished Baily for 14 wonderful years. We also enjoyed boarding, daycare and grooming throughout the years. Now as a married adult professional, we recently added a Golden Retriever girl to our family. So thrilled to learn there is training right near our home in Snyder with the same wonderful group. Bella had a great time in puppy class and we look forward to more. more

Sick Dogs 7/29/2009

My husband and I went out of town for a week and needed to board our 2 dogs...after reading the reviews on this site I felt like Eagle Ridge would be a good choice. When we left our dogs there they were both healthy...our female lab, Stowe had also just had her ears cleaned a few days before. Well almost as soon as we got home we noticed Stowe pawing at her ear, she was clearly in pain, and that both Stowe and our other dog Greer had colds. We took Stowe to the vet to be told that she had a raging ear infection, which clearly didn't happen over the course of a few hours, so someone at Eagle Ridge should have noticed something over the course of the week she was with them. I'm upset that our dogs got sick in their care, but more than that, I am upset that no one noticed it. I find it a little hard to believe that the very first symptom she exhibited was immediately after we picked her up. I called to talk to them about it, and they had no note of anything relating to her ear. The person with whom I spoke on the phone claimed that dogs ""often act stoic there and won't show they are in pain"" which I find utterly ridiculous as Stowe has had major surgery in the past and is not ""stoic"" at all. She basically acted like it was no big deal that I dropped off two healthy dogs, spent $400 for them to be boarded for a week, and came home to have to spend another $100 the next day at the vet. She expressed no concern for my dog and was only interested in making it clear that they did nothing wrong- which I wholeheartedly disagree with. They may have done ""nothing"", but that is exactly my point. I am incredibly disappointed with my experience with Eagle Ridge and my dogs will most certainly not be returning there. Pros: location Cons: my dogs arrived healthy and left sick more

Professional, Courteous, Enthusiastic, Caring Staff 11/7/2008

I've taken my dogs to other boarding kennels and have never seen another place like Eagle Ridge! The facility is very well kept, the grounds are tidy and the staff is always happy to give a tour of the buildings and grounds. And the staff...!!! A more loving, caring group of people you couldn't ask for, they are great! They know you and your pet's name! I can tell when I drop off my pack that they can't wait to see their friends! Valerie, Jen, Mary, Kate, Erika, Michelle: these girls love dogs and always make sure mine are given love, affection, care and attention that I would give them myself. And Tammy, the best groomer you could ask for! My dogs leave looking like a million dollars (not freaked out and butchered like other places.) Hands down, the best place for dogs! I recommend them to anyone and everyone who loves their pets and wants them to have the very best care available. Thank you Eagle Ridge!!! Pros: Excellent staff, Exceptional care, attention to detail, truly treat every animal as an individual! Cons: None, what-so-ever. more

People Who Care More About Dogs Then Ever!! 4/6/2008

My Princess has been going there for Daycare, Grooming, and the occasional Boarding. She walks in the front door thinking that she owns the place, but all she wants to do is give all of her Aunties lots of kisses, and to sit with her elderly friends. Now princess can be grumpy with a lot of dogs, and very picky, but when she sees her girlfriends, Tika, Zelda, Patch, and of course her boyfriend Rocco, she is as happy as can be. The staff at Eagle Ridge Kennels cares more about the animals there than anything else in the world, the TLC time is wonderful, and the Cat room is so peaceful, but most of all the care of the pets is above and beyond! Thank you Eagle Ridge for the last two years of making my Princess and My life so pleasent and remarkable, the memories will never be forgotten, and neither will you! You guys really know what your doing and I am Proud to say I would take my Princess there anytime! Pros: Very experienced, Highly Knowleged Staff Cons: none as of now more

THESE PEOPLE LOVE ANIMALS! 9/12/2007

I highly recommend Eagle Ridge for Day Care, Boarding and Training. My vet said they are the Cadillac of Kennels and was she right. Stoli loves going and I have peace of mind that my baby is well taken care of. He has been going since he was 12 weeks old and has helped him be better socialized with people and his four legged friends. As soon as he started we noticed a difference in his behavior. Pros: great care they give my dog Cons: I really can't think of any more

Very caring!!! 8/21/2007

We had our dog Maya boarded for 6 days. The staff was wonderful to her & us. They called us a day after she was picked up to see if we had any questions or concerns regarding Maya's stay there. We thought this was such a caring thought. After talking to them, they did know Maya from the comments made and we appreciated it. We will not hesitate to use these wonderful people again...and would recommend them to everyone!!!! Pros: everything Cons: nothing more

Very dedicated staff, extended hours for daycare, weekend check in/out for boarding 7/11/2007

We have used their boarding and grooming services on several occasions and have been very pleased. Our dogs are always very excited to go to 'camp' and come home looking terrific. It's been our experience that the staff is very caring and professional. They have also been very accomodating to our reservation needs. Pros: extended daycare hours, weekend check in/out, friendly, expereinced staff Cons: No weekend groomers more

Watch out for prices you dont expect 5/31/2007

I dont know what has happened to the kennel since Caroline has left. Sally is running this, at one time awesome business, right into the ground. I refuse to ever do business with her again. I had been a customer and owner of one of her breed dogs for 7 1/2 years. To be so unprofessional about business is an understatment. I feel bad for the dogs in her care. If you treat the dogs anything like you treat your customers then who knows. Your lose!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: None anymore Cons: Customer Service more
