Perfect food for a wine tasting afternoon! 6/15/2009

My husband and I returned to this great spot yesterday and sat outside. The menu seems to be just what you're in the mood for while touring Wilamette Valley. We enjoyed the food and casual atmosphere. Service was a bit unattentive, likely due to a seemingly young staff, but overall we enjoyed the experience again! Pros: good menu options more

3 strikes and you're out!!! 11/29/2008

During our annual Thanksgiving weekend trip to wine country, we usually stop here to have dinner. Well, Dundee Bistro team, this is our last time. Rude, snobby and unattentive service. The manager was very inexperienced in her knowledge of the local area and its wines, hell, she couldnt even tell us about certain dishes on the menu without having to ask the kitchen, then she never even came back to answer it for us!!! Pros: Like the previous comment, location Cons: rude inexperienced staff, lousy manager, inconsistent food more

The Location Must Keep It Open 8/1/2008

I am pretty sure that this restaurant is only open because of the location (prime spot in Dundee). The wait staff seems fairly inexperienced, but is routninely rude. I have been here several times (again, because of the location, during a day of wine tasting), and I have never had a great meal. The service is slow, and it takes forever to get refills of water, or to find a server to bring you something you might need. The only reason we usually go here is because if you are wine tasting on the weekends with friends, there are not many options for having lunch with a nice bottle of wine in Dundee. (If only Tina's, next door to the bistro, were open for lunch on weekends - they have fabulous food and service!). No matter how empty the restaurant is when we arrive, we have always had to wait, and are treated like it is a problem to seat us if we do not have reservations. The menu is not that exciting, and much of what I have eaten here has been greasy (fish and chips) or poorly seasoned. I can hardly wait until (1) Tina's opens for lunch on weekends, or (2) a new restaurant opens in Dundee with good atmosphere, friendly service, and a decent wine list. Pros: Location - Near Wine Tasting, Good Wine List Cons: Service, Food more

Good food served with bad attitude. 1/3/2008

We were visiting from the Napa Valley, where we live and work in the wine industry and had heard about the great food at the Bistro. Food was good, but the service was unbelievably snotty. A hostess who rolled her eyes when we asked to be seated at a booth, staff who made sure to let us know how much we were putting them out by the move, a waitress who got quite grumpy when the salad we had ordered with ""no dairy, please"" showed up covered in cheese. After she slammed the plated down, she didn't stop by the table again until we had indicated to the busgirl that we were finished, even though the restaurant was less than 25% full and she did have time to sit and chat with coworkers at the bar. We weren't asked how our food was, water glasses weren't refilled, we weren't offered a chance to order seconds of the very good pinot noir, which we would have gone for, given the opportunity. Originally, we'd planned to have dessert and coffee, but the service was so extremely poor that we ditched the restaurant and went elsewhere. We rarely tip under 25%, but this time left only about 10,% and even that was pushing it. Notice to the Bistro and all potential customers: Haughty service doesn't make a chic place. That's a very outdated 80's notion. We want to sit down and be warmly welcomed, taken care of, enjoy the friendliness and good humor of the staff, and are willing to pay for the experience. This is definitely not the place to go. Too bad, because the cooked food was very good, even if the salad was tasteless. Pros: Cooked food excellent. Tasteless salad dressings. Cons: Horrendous service, bad attitudes. You're putting them out and they let you know it. more

Excellent Wine Selection, but service and food are average 11/7/2006

Love the Oregon/Washington wine choices. Service was so-so. Food was just ok. We had the pork and steak for our main entrees. Steak was tasty, but a very poor cut of meat, lot of grissle, etc. Pork was smothered in marinara sauce and very tough. The tomato didn't pair well with the pork, it was not good. Dessert was great, starters were also decent. If we are in the area, we would return for starters/dessert and vino, but not a main meal. Give a miss if you are seeking a special occasion, it isn't that ""Special"". Pros: Wine selection, dessert Cons: Food, service more

Poor service, good food 10/20/2006

This was our first time in Dundee and based on reviews we went to the Dundee Bistro. The service was poor before we were even seated, the hostess rolling her eyes at my friend because I went to the restroom to fetch my other friend and tell her we were being seated. It took all of 10 seconds. I thanked her for seating us and she would not respond. She then gave quite a hostile look again at my friend that had been in the restroom when she walked by our table later on. Not impressive. Wait staff were fine, though a little slow. Pros: unique dishes, good wine choices Cons: Rude staff more

A Wonderful Lunch in Wine Country 6/25/2006

Conveniently located in the middle of Dundee, off Highway 99W, the Dundee Bistro offered us a welcome oasis of gourmet dining after a long drive from Seattle. We were seated quickly and graciously, and were pleasantly surprised by the menu -- a selection of fresh, seasonal flavors, and light tasty fare that was perfectly cooked and nicely presented. It's not The French Laundry, but it was just what we were looking for: good gourmet food, a relaxing environment with some good wine too. Pros: Good food, Convenient Location, Easy parking Cons: Pricier than a diner -- but worth it. more

Very disappointing 2/12/2006

The food was very average, but the prices are astronomic. Very poor value for money, in my opinion. Definitely not recommended. more

High hopes not met 11/30/2005

We took friends to the Bistro for lunch in August during an afternoon vineyard tour. The look of the restaurant is very lovely and inviting. Unfortunately, the food does not match. My French onion soup was too sweet, not served hot enough and served in a ridiculously large bowl. The rest of the dishes served to the table were totally unremarkable (or worse). It is too bad the Bistro did not live up to its look. A restaurant such as the Dundee Bistro tries to be would be a very welcome addition to this area. Pros: lovely atmosphere, outdoor seating, near wine region Cons: listless food, unresponsive service more

Yummy food, great service 11/9/2003

New menu's every evening. This is my families favorite place to go. The service is wonderful, the atmosphere is great, the food is even better. Always a great wine list, new and exciting wines by the glass without being over priced. Pros: Awesome Service, good food Cons: Far away from PDX more

Good Eats 8/29/2002

On the three occassions I've eaten at the Dundee Bistro I've been pleasantly surprised each time with the wonderful service, the fabulous food - especially the scallops and the great selections of wine. Even the wine by the glass is nice. I've read some of the other reviews and can not comment on their experience with poor service but my experience has been just the opposite. I'm going back this weekend for sure. Pros: Very pleasant decor, Heart of Wine Country, Friendly staff Cons: Right on the hiway more
